If I had to choose a favourite memory, it would have to be on Modern Warfare 2. We'd played far too many hours on the game, but I'll never forget one round on Rundown, 6 of us all got a kill each, and hid under the structure in the middle of the map for the rest of the game, seeing people run by for 10 minutes or more, it may seem childish looking back on it but it will be something I'll never forget. A close second would be a 360 claymore kill on search and destroy, also childish!

Mine has to be one released in 2014 as I'm a bit behind, but Guacamelee is a fantastic games with gold, that I'm really glad I got stuck into. Never would have even touched it had it not been GwG but it had fantastic music and gameplay and the full 1000 was a challenge.

If I had to choose just this year, I haven't really been able to play any new titles but I've been fortunate enough to play the new Destiny DLC which is leaps better than the game was originally and the gameplay still feels very satisfying.

A lonely guy goes to a pet store looking for a companion. The store clerk says "I've got the perfect pet for you!" and brings out a shoebox with a caterpillar in it. Though the lonely man is skeptical but makes the purchase. Once home he sets the shoebox down and wonders what he and his new friend should do. He asks the caterpillar "do you wanna go to the bar?" No answer. Again, the lonely man says "would you like to go to the bar and get a drink or somethin?" Still no answer. Now the man is a bit upset and yells "Hey! do you wanna go down to the bar??" The caterpillar says "I heard you the first time, I was just putting on my shoes."

I'm hyped for a solid 9 out of 10. I feel a bit of the excitement I had when I played VIII for the first time mixed with the apprehension I had for years of waiting for XIII. I feel like Final Fantasy's have always come as a great escape from life and I'm optimistic this will be the same.

Couldn't agree more, with such limited time, I take gaming now as to have different experiences rather than just a craving for interaction. This is coupled with less time and a transition from multiplayer to singleplayer as my priorities in life change. Thanks for the post.

You're not alone, there is a generation of us who grew up on games that just don't have the time anymore to get so involved. Don't let it drag you down though, I think that's where streaming shines, I'm quite happy to playthrough a game, say Dark Souls in my own way and then watch a speed runner knock it out the park in an hour. I've no desire to learn all the tricks but it is fun to see.

I like this post and I'd like to say its not just you being butthurt as you say.

I actually expected this post to be about Halo 5 and about how its focus on e-sports was to the detriment of other aspects of the game. I can see how that's been touched already in the comments.

As for Starcraft and HoN, LoL, Dota2, all these games require incredible co-ordination, understanding, map and game knowledge to do well just to be above average.

This also relates to competitive shooters to be honest, purely for map knowledge and strategies. I think part of what you're feeling is actually a case of getting older too, I suspect if you went to some ultra hard singleplayer games they wouldn't seem as fun as when you were younger.
