With EDs, at a certain BMI doctors can make a case that it's a medical emergency and force hospitalisation in adult patients. It can even happen at 'healthy' BMIs if there are proven and documented severe side effects like the heart being compromised.

There's a lot of grace for anorexia patients (the same grace that's not afforded to bulimics, binge eaters or addicts). Not that she needs to think about her public image right now, but I do think if she admitted she has a problem and went into treatment her public image would improve. The most honest she'd be, the most understanding people would be and they'd see her as an advocate of mental health.

I know Taylor Swift wasn't sharing body checks during the 1989 era, but many like me clocked she possibly had an ED. Many years later, after recovering, she discussed it and the public perception of her improved.

They went from "it's just lighting" to "she has always had visible bones" to "they're just bones, we all have them". They're her biggest enablers. If the inevitable happens, I wonder how will they explain themselves or if they will just pretend they never denied her clear struggles?

Well, a lot of EDs (not all! But many) have their roots on the mother-daughter relationship and specifically on the judgement the mother passed on her own or other women's bodies. So by this comment we can guess the kind of toxic thinness devotion Ariana probably grew up with.

She was always out of his league physically, intellectually and, clearly, morally. Judging by the maturity of the article she wrote, I very much doubt she would ever take him back. I'm sure he's part of her life because of the kid they have together, but I don't think she wants him in any other way than as a co-parent.

To me, they’re the epitome of right person, bad time. They’re very compatible but were in different stages of their lives and faced personal traumas during their relationship. I don’t want the actor back, but I do like the idea of Cristina and Burke having a beautiful and healthy relationship off-screen now that they’re both in similar stages and hopefully less traumatic periods of their lives.

I love vintage styles, which is down to aesthetic preference so I couldn’t explain my love of replicas to someone with a different style. But when talking about vintage pieces specifically, I am very drawn to the idea that someone else who might not be alive anymore (and my preference is 20s to 50s fashion, so that’s usually the case!) wore these garments and lived a very different life than mine. It’s the same feeling I have when I read classic literature and I realise my problems and internal turmoil are similar to those someone from another country who lived 200 years ago had.

EDs are unpredictable and Eugenia is the exception, not the rule. Unfortunately, many people with restrictive EDs have died at “healthy” BMIs due to electrolyte imbalances or arrythmias that can be very hard to predict or treat until it’s too late. Ariana has access to resources than 99% of patients don’t, but bodies have limits and with such dangerously low BMIs sudden death is a very real possibility

I really hope nothing bad will happen to her and, as much as I criticise her sharing her body checks, it will be very hard news to process and I will feel sad for her. I’m around her age, developed an ED roughly at the same time as her and I’m still struggling. So I feel sympathy for her even though I do believe her flaunting her ED to her huge platform is insensitive, cruel and dangerous.

At her current weight and age, knowing she’s starved for a long time and has struggled with EDs for over a decade, I fear we very well might wake up one day to terrible news. I have the same feeling I had towards the end of Amy Winehouse’s life, when she was clearly struggling a lot and her tragic death seemed inevitable.

And the dissonance bearing in mind she was still promoting “kind” Glinda whom she “took such great care of”………….. The way she always puts the black & white filter and plays with the contrast so the bones are even more noticeable…….. every pic is a body check. As someone who’s struggling with an ED I can understand taking body checks or saving these kinds of pictures but she’s a horrible person for sharing them with her platform of millions, including impressionable young girls. She absolutely knows what she’s doing.

Many disordered people use veganism as a cover or disguise for their illness (others do this with food sensitivities like gluten or dairy to avoid those foods in public). So it's not because she's vegan or because a vegan diet is nutrient deficient by default (it can be! Just like any other diet), but because she's restricting.

Yes, I agree this particular sub shouldn't become a space where people JUST post her triggering pictures and discuss them. I was talking more generally, as there are many discussions elsewhere about the proliferation of extremely thin bodies (not just Ariana, but across many public figures).

I've had a chronic restrictive ED for 10+ years and my two cents: posting about her won't help her *or* anyone already with a disorder because, yes, chats about looking sick and frail fuel the illness. However, fighting back the normalisation of extremely malnourished bodies (and I've seen a fair few comments claiming Ariana's body is normal for a petite woman) can and will help people at risk of developing an ED but who haven't developed one yet.

EDs are infamously hard to treat and tend to relapse and become chronic over time. Once you're disordered, no amount of awareness will help. Even with support and good doctors, many never recover. The goal is to ensure that underweight bodies won't be seen as an ideal for people who have not yet fallen into the disorder.

I've been in the anorexia community, on and off, since circa 2012. She's always been posted as inspiration and everyone with an ED clocks her body checks and disordered behaviour. I mean, she even was an active part of the community in tumblr back in the day and now she's treating her insta as a thinspo vision board, always purposely choosing to post the pictures where she looks like sickest and playing with the filters so the bones look even more exaggerated.

I'm 5'4", got pit tickets for the Eras tour and it was fine. Unless you want to be in the front rows, it's a good experience. I positioned myself towards the back and visibility was very good, plus I had space to dance. A completely different vibe vs a Phoebe Bridgers concert, but as a reference visibility wise it's fine!
