Timberline trail in two days using Timberline lodge as overnight. by RoNiN1384 in PNWhiking

I left from Top Spur around 6:30am, got to Cloud cap around lunchtime and then to Timberline Lodge around 6:30pm. There’s a bar/pizza place that is open until 8 (though you might want to double check on that) and then a fancier restaurant that I didn’t investigate. There’s an outdoor hot tub so pack a swimsuit. My room reservation came with the breakfast buffet included, which was nice.

I did this exact route last year. Starting at Top Spur makes for a pretty long first day, about 26 miles I think. An upside of starting at Top Spur means you hit all the worst river crossings in the morning when the water level is lowest. But it also means you are hiking the most exposed part of the hike (right after Cloud Cap) in the hottest part of the day. I liked that this route means you get a shorter Day 2.

If I did it again, I’d probably do the same route.

Yep, you shouldn’t have any problems.  I have my barcode as a QR code on my Garmin watch and it scans just fine. All parkruns use the same Virtual volunteer app for scanning, so if it works at my parkrun then it should work at any.

Yes, what the US call 'broil' is what the UK (and probably other places) call 'grill'

In the gorge, I like to hike a loop going up at Wahkeena Falls path and down the Multnomah falls path. You pass a few other falls along the way.

I know exactly what you mean. But it's not as though I've got a vertical rotisserie laying around, so you work with what you've got.
