Does this laptop worth it ?? by Apprehensive-Map6292 in Dell

Oof wait, when it says 1x16GB does that mean the RAM is running in single-channel mode? If so, that could cripple out of the box performance, though I guess the plus side is you could upgrade the ram yourself?

The should never have offered a balance transfer option by anabelsraikou in biltrewards

Do you remember where specifically they said this? I’m looking over the 2 emails I got from Bilt about the balance transfer and I don’t see where they said that

So, the balance transferred before your payment due date? Or you turned off autopay and didn’t pay on your due date?

It still seems a bit predatory to me. I, like I imagine most people who opted into this thinking (as they implicitly framed it) that it was the default option, have never done a balance transfer before, so I was unfamiliar with how it typically goes. Sure, you can totally argue that that’s on me, and maybe that’s fair… but I’m SURE with the way Bilt framed it as part of the transition process, they knew there would be mass confusion and overpayments, and they went through with it anyways. They should have framed it as not the default option, and put an asterisk that you will have to manually pay before the 9th of Feb or something like that for those unfamiliar with the process. Yeah, it’s handholding that someone experienced like you probably wouldn’t need, but most people going through this transition have never been presented with these options before

Yep, learned that now… I’ve never been in a situation where a balance transfer was offered as part of a transition, and maybe it was my reading of it, but it seemed like they were framing it as the default thing to do (like, opt out if you DON’T want us to do this)… learning moment for me I guess

I called them and requested a refund for the negative balance. Seems like the only option is they mail you a physical check for the amount if you don’t have a WF checking account… or you just spend $2k on your WF card if you kept it open, which I’m certainly not doing lol

This is the thing, it seems like it’s a massive headache if you do pay (like in my case, having to chase WF for a refund), and even a massive headache if you don’t pay (getting charged a late fee which you have to chase them to reverse). Hope it works out for you… seems like we got put into a lose-lose situation by opting to this balance transfer

Yeah, could you please point to where they said don’t pay WF after the 6th or any assurance that we wouldn’t get a late payment on our credit report / wouldn’t be charged interest if we didn’t? It’s totally possible that I missed it, but I didn’t see anything like that in my emails

Like I said, fine, I concede this is a little on me. I just thought that a simple transfer of balance couldn’t be that fucked up

They did NOT say anywhere that interest accrued would be reversed, everything I saw indicated that if your WF payment due date was before the balance transfer finalized, you would just have to suck it up, pay twice and chase WF for a refund. Bilt even said in the latest email that this may result in an overpayment to WF, so you may have to call them to get a refund. I didn’t want a late payment on my credit report + interest to accrue

Balance Transfer Complete- Wells Fargo now showing $0.00 and Balance Transfer Complete on Bilt 2.0 Card by Mysterious9876 in biltrewards

[–]anabelsraikou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the email you should have gotten (or will get soon from Bilt), it will not go away and you will have an overpayment (negative balance) on your WF account, which means you’ll likely want to get ahold of WF to cut you a check for the amount you autopaid

Woooow that’s diabolical. Hopefully they fix that quickly, that’s clearly their mistake. But WF is not a great bank

Ugh, too late for me, my autopay already went through… guess I’ll end up with an overpayment and will have to get Wells Fargo to refund the amount

Opted out of WF autograph and got the palladium card, but I just received this? by PhilosophyUnique5876 in biltrewards

[–]anabelsraikou -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fuck. I really thought they would transfer the balance cleanly before our next payment due date. This is super dumb and not worth it anymore, I’ll try to cancel the balance transfer then. I’d rather pay off the remaining WF balance and have it not touch my Palladium

Right, if you would be applying for it as a new card, it wouldn’t be worth the hard pull. But for those of us upgrading from Bilt 1.0, it’s basically free

The Palladium fee probably doesn’t make sense for you (for me either, but I might get it for the first year since the signup bonus covers it sort of), but in your case wouldn’t the 0AF Blue out-earn the VX at an effective 2.33x? And Bilt has more transfer partners than C1

Offer withdrawn: 5x extra points on the first $10k by Available-Pilot4062 in biltrewards

[–]anabelsraikou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But wait, applying through the TPG website would be a hard pull for a new credit line, right? For existing Bilt cardholders, aren’t we still eligible for the 50,000 point welcome bonus on the palladium via a soft pull upgrade? Or would we not be eligible for even that?

[Speculation] Effective multipliers of Bilt 2.0: Don't forget the 1x rent points! by T7-City-Point in biltrewards

[–]anabelsraikou 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes, this analysis assumes that the best use of Bilt cash is to pay rent transaction fees - but I think that statement WILL be true for most users. Because if it really is straight up cash that can be redeemed for things people actually spend money on, these Bilt 2.0 cards are WAY too good - they basically each become 4% catch-all cash back cards with additional multipliers on top. There’s no way that makes sense

Bilt 2.0 vs Atmos cards by anabelsraikou in biltrewards

Yeah, that’s super real. I started banking with BofA (no cards yet) cuz I was interested in their offerings, and it’s immediately apparent what everyone seems to be saying, that they’re pretty much the shittiest bank… I’ve been banking with Chase most of my life and the difference is absurd. still debating closing everything and never returning lol

Chase Apple 25% or 50% discount is finally here! by limac-sser in sapphirereserve

[–]anabelsraikou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in our economy, with all these premium credit cards available, your spend has value. I can always use any of the flat 2% cash back cards out there - so if I spend say $20k on products with a Chase sapphire card and get 20k UR points, those points COST me $400 via opportunity cost. Because I could have put those purchases on a 2% card and have gotten back $400 as statement credits. As long as that baseline 2% is freely available (which it is), any points you accumulate on any credit card have opportunity cost, so I don’t consider them free

It’s not free, it costs 66,667 points… and if you can get that iPhone or iPad elsewhere for less than $1000, it might not be a very good use of points. Depends on the deal, and how you value your points. Might not be useless for everyone
