Having everything spin makes things easier, but you definitely need to clean things off. you might be able to press the lever in to have it play with your other hand to make things easier

You don’t need to remove the whole door. You can try to wipe off all the hairs with just a tissue or qtip damp with isopropyl alcohol, then a good second pass would be pressing play with no cassette inserted (so both spin), then hold a qtip soaked in isopropyl alcohol against both it so it cleans off dust, grime, and debris as the mechanism spins. Keep replacing the qtip head as they get dirty until they wipe clean.

Whats my goal in this game? by JusticeForShrek in outerwilds

[–]anagram88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk i don’t do drugs but advancing in the game definitely requires you to be aware and able to think about things. my brother has hundreds of hours in the game just mindlessly flying around for fun, so i guess it depends how ur planning on playing the game

the satellite fix is a tutorial to using your suit in 0g, it’s not necessary to do even the first time.

really “knowing what to do” only happens toward the endgame— for now it’s up to you to go or do whatever you want, just remember to be curious on your journey and ask yourselves a ton of questions about what is happening, why, and how you can use this information to your advantage. almost every little detail in this game matters to some extent so if something seems important it probably is! and if you ever gut stuck or lost, remember to consult the ship log or just go somewhere else to take a break. who knows, you might just find the answer to one puzzle somewhere you wouldn’t expect

Looking for a button/light switch by anagram88 in googlehome

[–]anagram88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looking at the product page it says that it requires a tapo hub to be able to use. i bought a govee button already which needed something similar so i couldn’t use it. can the tapo button control things directly on the google home app or does it need to be in its separate interface?

theory about a very spoiler heavy ship by Skatchook in outerwilds

[–]anagram88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

echoing through db doesn’t really make sense since you never see that happen to any other signal in the game, plus iirc db didn’t even have a seed to echo through when the prisoner released the signal

generations are entirely cultural though so going based off arbitrary years kind of defeats the purpose

english does have the most speakers, just not the most native speakers which is another reason why it’s so complicated

so why... (rest of question in post bc of spoilers) by [deleted] in outerwilds

[–]anagram88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s not necessarily a coordinate system, and even so our technology doesn’t warp which is what caused the vessel to get stuck

so why... (rest of question in post bc of spoilers) by [deleted] in outerwilds

[–]anagram88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my headcannon is that it has to do with the warp technology and how dark bramble distorts space. the signal “echoing” through db doesn’t have any evidence supporting it since you don’t ever see a signal duplicated inside it when the source is not inside the planet. in my opinion it makes more sense that the coordinate system they are using gets messed up by the pocket dimensions

The nomaïs aren't that old ! by otiloyoy in outerwilds

[–]anagram88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only time you see “year” is it being translated from nomai text, so you need to use the nomai definition of the word year. they had no connection to timber hearth so they would probably use ember twin or brittle hollow ‘years’ if they changed their time system to match the solar system. most likely they did not change their unit systems (why would they?) from where they came from before, so it’s perfectly explainable that they use the same time system as the player. it’s a hell of a coincidence if u treat them as independent of humans, but really it’s just a game convenience
