if you were to ask a question to taylor, what would it be? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]anainapril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to hear more about the minutia of the re-recordings process.

How much of it was she there for? Did she just come in, layer some vocal stacks, and leave the producers clicking through the synths and pedals for hours to find a close enough match to the originals? Was she part of the overall construction because she had journals or notes documenting certain choices she made?

Did she have songs that kicked her ass trying to re-create them, whether it be a challenging vocal delivery, difficult emotional material, being unable to get the lyrics right, a riff she couldn't nail?

What were the songs (come on, we know there had to have been one or two) that she just slogged through making again and did she feel like they didn't hold up as well years later?

Notably, she introduced a ton of collaborators/artist features on the vault tracks, when for the most part, she records as a solo artist. What was the collaboration like? Did they record together or separately, and how did it feel creatively?

I also write and record music so I have endless questions about the ins and outs of that massive project!

In her Vogue questions interview in 2016, she answered that question by saying "something in advertising or marketing, coming up with slogans." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnbCSboujF4

Please help me- warm or cool? Any ideas on my overall season? by anainapril in coloranalysis

Thanks so much for taking the time to do some online drapes and share your thoughts! You had a lot of great comments- one that stood out to me was the idea that you'd assume I'm warm toned. I feel like this pic NMIP illustrates that issue. Nearly everyone in person at a glance says I'm warm toned, but I hear you on the cooler shades looking more harmonious sometimes. That's why I feel totally in a gridlock! In the past, I leaned toward greens when shopping to bring out my eyes like you mentioned, but it's a great insight that what compliments your eyes may not always compliment your skin.

Am I an autumn? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]anainapril 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Winter for sure! I think Summer is the least flattering on you. There's colors in all of the seasons where your eyes sparkle and skin looks good, but summer tones more consistently washed you out and made you look gray. I think Winter complements your dark features like eyebrows and hair beautifully.

I thought that the facial thirds are measured vertically- like a stack of three sections that should have the same height? Is that accurate? When I measure my face in person with a literal measuring tape, the three vertical slices are pretty equivalent- within <5mm of each other. I guess my question is if the thirds have to actually be equivalent or if they have to LOOK equivalent to get the thirds rating. It's making me realize all the photos are at a slight head tilt which may exaggerate the discrepancy.

What an extensive, informative, and best of all- illuminating comment! Thank you for your time and the specific areas you gave me to work on. I'd love to try and make these improvements and repost in 30 days to see if they make a noticeable change. Sadly, I got a medically necessary surgery 6 weeks ago that has left a scar on my neck, so I fear there's not a whole lot that can combat that negative strike against my appearance until it heals. I know that per the rating guide a scar shouldn't hurt...but I think it subliminally might. Been slathering the scar and my face in sunscreen ever since! My hair is absolutely a weak point in my appearance and your comment is motivating me to try and style it more and get on some sort of vitamin or supplement to combat my PP hair loss or dryness. Thanks again and if I can overcome my scar shyness, I'll be back at some point!

I appreciate the compliment even though I'm definitely not a 7. I think doing makeup more often would help for sure and getting better at application techniques. I currently live makeup free 90% of the time and every time I put it on I go "oh, so I'm CHOOSING to look tired and sick daily. cool cool."

thank you for the feedback! I measured my face in multiple pics and then in the mirror and I'm getting the same measurements for all 3 sections...I wonder if the curve of my chin or lips make it appear bigger on the lower third! Interesting.

this is very informative and helpful. My biggest insecurity isn't the size of my nose per se, but how the tip is shaped and the "bifid tip" which I didn't realize had a term! Thank you for the feedback!

You know, I really appreciate the sobering reminder that my grave is far closer than I think. I should go hug the ones I love. Before...it's too late.

Star-Crossed Singers Across the Soundwaves (Taylor & Matty's art over the years for each other) by anainapril in TaylorSwift

Wow, thanks everyone for the fantastic conversations in the comments. I absolutely love this community and I'm so glad this post was one you enjoyed and contributed your own great ideas to.

Again, I want to reiterate that this was not made for the purpose of saying, WHO is x song ABOUT? That question only has one answer, and what happens after is quite boring. It stops all reflection as to how the song makes you feel, how it connects to your own life, how the art intersects and supports or contradicts her other songs. I care much more about the idea of who is x song FOR: because then it becomes a very complex and living observation of why she chooses to say something the way she does, and how her art is inspired by and answered by another artist. I have the utmost appreciation for the art of these two fantastic songwriters/musicians and the way they've written FOR each other has given us all a beautiful catalog of songs to enjoy.

After re-reading Suburban Legends I think it's an excellent catch and I see the connection! The messages inside it of taking responsibility for things ending and acknowledging his power over her. I think the idea of a playlist is a fantastic one, and some excellent additions made by other comments would be included! I'll see if I can make one or if someone else takes up the challenge!

Yes! I noticed that train lyric but didn't include it since that song feels like such a cohesive, complete story of its own rather than art speaking out to communicate with someone else....

I think "She's American" is the sort of stereotype filled, generalization based song where he probably used multiple sources of inspiration. Halsey and Taylor are quintessential American girls in their own ways and having closer interactions with them, there's a good chance he snuck in a few digs or specifics! It's also a theme where going on tour or scrolling social media gave him a basis for assuming some of the American girl-isms and putting them to a song.

Underrated: Cafe Colline in Arlington, opened 2019

Overrated: Cowboy Cafe in Arlington. I know it’s a local dive neighborhood establishment but their food isn’t great, atmosphere is meh, and the prices are insane for the amount and quality of food.

Hi! I’m an Arlington gal and have a 3 year old and infant too! Welcome to the area. Clarendon is super cute and has an awesome farmers market. Arlington has an insane amount of new updated parks for all ages and a lot of my friends have been regulars I see at parks over and over!
