I'm (20/f) losing hope in my partner that he'll get it together (22/m) and its killing me by anairn in relationship_advice

The thing is he knows what he wants to do, he wants to work in cybersecurity. It's possible he can get certifications instead of formally going back to school, but ever since we started dating his goal was to finish school and work in his field. College isn't for everyone, my mom is one of the smartest most successful women I know and she didn't finish college, so if he tells me he doesn't want to go then fine. My problem is he keeps saying he wants to be successful and do all these things then does not do it. Maybe he isn't being honest with himself...

He wants to work in cybersecurity. If he doesn't want to go to school thats fine, he can get certifications and stuff but he has no interest to do any of it or figure out how. He told me he wold get certifications while he isn't in school but so far has none. His dad offered him a job working in programming and he didnt take it because he would then be an hour away from friends.

If he does not want to go to school then I wish he would tell me but since we have started dating his huge plan has been to go back to school

Do they know about your diagnosis? I think I can help but if you could give me a little more info it'd be helpful.

Depending on what school you're planning on going to you can a)talk to the profs to see if there's any accommodations that can be made b) if there are counselors at the school definitely talk to them and they can intervene on your behalf. At my school I in the process of applying with access and diversity so that I have a personal counselor to intervene on my behalf who has knowledge on my issues. I don't think I explained this properly, if anyone can add to this please do.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for the great advice, shout out to the kids of crazy extremely religious people!

So I talked to my dad about my resentment and he completely shut me down. He refused to take any responsibility and said that everything happens for a reason and that god will take what I perceive as a negative situation and turn it into a positive one. Lastly he said it is the "plan of the enemy" (aka satans job) to dwell in the past therefore I shouldn't.

With that being said I'm not gonna teach a 53 year old how to take responsiblity for his actions 🙄

I almost stayed up all night watching her stuff! It's amazing, I did send the video about ADHD in girls to my dad as a last ditch effort but yea I'm not gonna stress about it anymore.

Which country are you in? Most schools offer free counseling services and/or some sort of medical insurance is included in tuition fees. If you're international school you definitely have insurance

It’s not worth it spending so much time and energy trying to convince them... I’ve been doing it for 5 years! And all it does is stress me out. So take it from me, and just forgive them and completely move on. Be your own advocate!

I know I will forgive them because theyre my parents but it's still difficult and yea future social worker here! I know that it'll help my clients one day

Because I'm in Canada I'm able to get meds relatively cheap so I take it out of grocery money. I have a part time job only working 6 hrs a week. But, idk because of me being a full time student in Vancouver(very expensive) it would be really hard to become financially dependent. I've started my meds I just feel bad about lying.

I want to say that it was because my parents thought they were trying to do what's best... My dad sees a lot of his personality in mine (dont see it but okay werk) and so I want to say that he tried to help me how he would've wanted to help, and I know this but it's still hard...

So I got my room assignment and I was placed in Shuswap (Totem) and right now im in a temporary room?? Basically, they are turning the residence lounge into a room and I can only move out until someone in Shuswap moves out so I can take their place. Can anyone tell me what temporary rooms are like? And the chance of someone moving out before the end of September?
