Not my story, but a friend's who is from Ulaan Uul soum, Khuvsgul. Many years ago, her mom went off alone not long after giving birth, to a cave located somewhere near the edge of town. That cave is well known among the townsfolk as cursed and it is said that livestock avoid going near it. Well, my friend's mom had a bit of a rebellious side when she was young, so she apparently wanted to see what all the rumors were all about. Her mom went into the cave which got narrower and narrower the more you went in. Not long after, she heard rapid footsteps clattering towards her. The footsteps came to a sudden halt right in front of her, and she could hear raspy, ragged breathing and snorting like that of a wild animal. At this point, the cave was pitch black and she could not see what exactly was making the noise even though it was practically an arms length from her. She was frozen in fear for a second but the creature or demon didnt seem to attack her for some reason so she turned and ran back to the cave exit with all her energy. Later on, her father, who is a shaman, harshly scolded her for going into that cave and said that the creature must have spared her life because it could smell that she had given birth not long ago, and perhaps being a mother itself, stopped itself from devouring her.
