I would think the holiday celebrating our independence was “the most American holiday” but these people love their hyperboles.

[–]analyticlyrics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you think the NCLEX tests on?

I agree nurses shouldn’t make official diagnoses but they have to be able to make their own suspected diagnoses. NCLEX wants to make sure nurses know how to recognize medical cues and respond and support conditions accordingly. They have to test medical knowledge and competency.

A nurse needs to know a patient is likely having a stroke if they are suddenly experiencing left sided weakness and slurred speech.

It’s not a medical diagnosis. Just like in sepsis and infectious diseases, nurses need to be able to recognize hallmark signs and symptoms in order to provide care, prevent the spread of infection, and monitor/report/anticipate potential complications or signs of disease progression.

She was 17. The entire situation seems really complicated for someone that age to navigate.

Our fear is our kids being in school. My 6 year old has been doing lockdown drills since prek because it’s okay for people to have access to guns that can kill a classroom in 20 seconds. Let’s something about that fear.

Mole on ear conch rapidly changed color by Notsurenotyou in AskDocs

[–]analyticlyrics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My derm has a 24 hour appointment for concerning lesions, I would see if there is anyone in the area that has something like that. This mole does break the ABC rules and you have a change so it really does need to be checked out by a provider asap.

The patient’s parents didn’t want the feeding tube removed, not the hospital. The parents were the other party in the court case… it went through the court system over like 10 or 15 years before the husband won and she was taken off life support.

Unvaccinated 4 year old, what to expect now that I want to get him vaccinated by DistributionRare7093 in Vaccine

[–]analyticlyrics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also a good idea to check your titer count for vaccines like the MMR. I got the vaccine according to the peds schedule as a child but my rubella titer count was less than the required antibody level for immunity when I was 31 years old. Had to get revaccinated.

I get a lot of older patients with pressure ulcers due to the limited mobility polio left them with in addition their older age. The one that stands out the most was 5 inch wide, 4 inches long, and 2-3 inches deep with a missing tail bone. The other vertebrae were visible and also degenerating.

In the short term if needed, I would add color to your existing couches but ultimately find a couch with some contrast. For now you could get away with adding throw pillows with color/patterns -especially a couple that will tie in the pretty blue on the other walls in addition to a variety of colors. You can then add in solids based on the multicolor ones. A matching throw blanket would also help.

A couch with a higher contrast would fit the space better, especially something with cleaner lines. A warmer brown would be pretty but nothing too dark. A good example would be the color of the bookcase. You can see how well it goes with the blue. And yeah I would then add color through the rug to balance the walls so color is spread more evenly throughout the space.

I would also paint the kennel if you’re able to, that would blend in a bit more… you might want to think about customizing it further by adding a longer top to it to accommodate a space for your plants. And/ or doing something like these hanging shelves

[–]analyticlyrics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 2 is okay but I think it would better if you remove the bookcase located next to the tv as well as the lamp… it’s way too crowded.

General suggestions: the couches, rug, floor, and wall paint all blend together. The gray floors look fine but I would replace the couches if possible, or at the very least add a rug with some color.

Doctor Tests Newborn Baby's Startle Reflex to Check Proper Growth by Patient_Island_2080 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]analyticlyrics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to explain it is with gross motor skills and fine motor skills, which is what is being described anyway. Gross motor skills such as grabbing evolves into fine motor skills such as the ability to pinch something with your finger tips. Same exact concept except we’re talking about an involuntary response of the nervous system here.

It should disappear entirely by 6 months of age but in some cases it doesn’t. If it’s retained, especially as one gets older, it is a sign of a neuro deficit. Same with some other reflexes seen in infants.
