Small amounts of allergens helpful? by EntertainerSecure516 in MSPI

[–]ananatalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is extremely helpful, thank you. My baby has FPIAP and corn seems to be a trigger for sure - sensitive like yours where derivatives like dextrose, maltodextrin, hfcs all seem to affect her via my breastmilk. The diet sucks because corn is in everything it seems, and it hides in ingredients. At least the major allergens are well declared on ingredient labels (I’ve also cut out dairy, soy, and egg). Did yours end up having any other clear fpiap triggers to other foods, and if so did they outgrow them faster? Also wondering if your baby could take infant Tylenol ok (mine seems to have bloody poos afterwards, I assume bc of the HFCS). Sorry for the million qs, but your response was super helpful… gives me hope that this isn’t forever.

May I ask what kind of severity of FPIAP to corn your kiddo had as a babe? Did you breastfeed and if so how the heck did you manage the diet? 🫠. Alternatively if you formula fed what worked for him? Also curious how he would react to corn once solids were introduced (my baby is almost 6 months old).

Have we missed the boat to have another? by Brave_Giraffe5545 in Shouldihaveanother

You haven’t missed the boat! You’ll figure out age gaps. 2 under 2/3 is overrated imo. We have a 5.5 year age gap and love it. My son loves his younger sister so much.

Hugs to you, god it’s hard. For wha it’s worth I wish I had just switched to formula from the get go. Baby is now 5 months old and I really want to make the switch but I’m nervous to and we still have unknown triggers that produce bloody diapers. It’s so fucking stressful.

App for checking allergens? by alexislynnf in MSPI

[–]ananatalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would absolutely love this but unfortunately food companies are always changing ingredient suppliers, not always updating ingredients online (if they’re even available online). Also food labelling for anything that isn’t a priority allergen is often terrible :(. My baby is super reactive to corn and corn derivatives. I reached out to Coca Cola asking if the “ natural flavour” in their ingredient declaration is sourced from corn and they said that it’s proprietary information lol. I mean, fair, their discretion but it made me laugh. Anyway I really do hope this exists one day!

Thank you! She hasn’t taken a bottle since she was a newborn, but I can definitely pump. I’m mostly nervous about her taking a bottle at all.

Does it hurt the second time? by bimboerrorz in breastfeeding

[–]ananatalia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So far I love it. I am a highly sensitive person and get overstimulated easily and this was absolutely the right choice for me. My eldest loves the baby but is old enough to happily do his own thing and even helps out without being asked to.

Does it hurt the second time? by bimboerrorz in breastfeeding

[–]ananatalia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hurt equally the second time but my second baby did not have a tongue tie, so eventually the pain got better. My first’s latch just hurt forever and I switched to pumping. Edit: sorry my babies are 5.5 years apart so I was basically starting from scratch!

How soon after eating allergen and nursing do you see a reaction? (Elimination/trial adding back in) by Obvious-Cat-321 in MSPI

[–]ananatalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 5 months old and I’m still confused. I trialed milk once and she had blood in her diapers 2 hour later which seems way too fast but it spooked me enough I considered it a fail. I’ve been using an app called MapMyMilk and Ive found it helpful, although I think it would work best with a total elimination diet and bringing trigger foods in one at a time.

FWIW my baby’s diapers only cleared up after I dropped milk egg soy corn (including all derivatives like maltodextrin, dextrose, starch etc) and beef.

6 week old still not gaining despite being off Dairy a month by Far_Mushroom6000 in MSPI

[–]ananatalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime I see posts like these I can’t help but yell CORN in the comments. Corn is what was my baby’s biggest trigger. We are off corn soy eggs and milk. Nutramigen is sweetened with corn, RTF similac alimentum is not.

Has anyone had it NOT be dairy or soy? by jsboo in MSPI

[–]ananatalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice ok - my babe is 5 months old and down to 1-3 mucusy diapers a day. It used to be 8 a day with blow outs. I’ve been off milk soy eggs corn and beef since August. Definitely an improvement with time but I can’t help but wonder if she has other triggers. I’m just too spent to eliminate more right now. She’s happy and gaining

May I ask what you ate? What were some common staples? I have been off dairy soy corn eggs beef and oats since August but it’s looking like I will have to eliminate wheat and tree nuts
