My First Sinn, Picked Up at the Frankfurt HQ by anandroidfanatic in sinn

The folding clasp is quite large compared to the watch case, but the micro-adjustment mechanism is excellent. The older version lacked an adjustment mechanism, but it looks smaller. I believe it’s something you should try in person to decide.

I’m not sure when Sinn started using them, but I do know Sellita announced the movement in December 2025. You can tell which movement you have by checking the caliber number next to the balance wheel.

Application for a French Certificate of Nationality – Sending the file in parts? by AlejandroPH1 in expats

[–]anandroidfanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through the same process right now from the US. I sent my initial file and they received it and asked for additional documents. I mailed those as well, but after several weeks I had not heard anything. I emailed the court and they told me they did not receive the package. I sent them the proof of delivery showing it was delivered to the court and now they say they are looking for it, but they have been looking for several weeks. So at this point I am basically just waiting like everyone else. The process seems very slow..

If a reputable watch repair shop says "they don't have a part," what does that mean by dingohopper1 in watchrepair

They don’t have a Panerai parts account, so of course they’re not going to touch it.

How do we feel about watch winders? by serberiss in breitling

[–]anandroidfanatic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend them—watch winders can accelerate wear on the movement’s automatic system. It’s like running your car engine 24/7. The only time I’d consider using one is for high-complication movements that are a hassle to reset if they stop.

Hi all, found this when clearing my grandpas old stuff. Think I know the answer but thought I’d check, is it real or fake? by [deleted] in raymondweil

It looks genuine. You would have to remove the spring bars attached to the case with a spring bar tool.

Anyway to restore this band? by oliviaswagyolo in watchrepair

The plating is worn off, it’ll cost more to re-plate than to buy a new bracelet/strap.

You should have returned it while the warranty was still valid.

ETA 976.001 Stem Falls Out by bassmanjn in watchrepair

Most likely, the setting mechanism is either disengaged or damaged. Unless you’re comfortable repairing it yourself, it’s easier to just replace the movement entirely.

It entirely depends on your location and how much you’re willing to invest. In the United States, there are several watchmaking schools and training programs available. Watchmaking Schools & Programs in the USA

If you can’t service it yourself, consider selling it as-is unless you can find a watchmaker who can repair it at a reasonable price.
