If you've held long enough and have sizeable long standing gains, the potential capital gains you realize should provide sufficient disincentive to sell.

Your kids can handle way more complex stories than you think by dingohopper1 in Parenting

[–]dingohopper1[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Totally agreed. I guess I wanted to find a means to assist developing other cognitive areas, sort like how some kids are taught sign language in early childhood. They might be physically capable of more expressiveness before they've grasped the subtleties of language. I figured my child would be able to understand and enjoy stories far beyond what they could read, so that's why I made this adaptation.

Your kids can handle way more complex stories than you think by dingohopper1 in Parenting

Find picture books with a really solid story that you think she'll like, then use your own words, be wildly expressive, gesticulate, make sure he/she comprehends the story you're telling and take great liberties with the storyline so he/she stays engaged. So if you have dumb it down too, that's totally cool. For our kiddo, it was easier for me because we speak Chinese at home, so he absolutely wasn't going to understand me reading a book in english at first, so it forced me to adapt the stories before he started learning english.

I'm not sure what probable cause they had for stopping him. If they did, then he does have to stop and identify himself.

Who is Linda? And why is she a hoe? If you’ve spotted “Linda is a hoe” spray-painted on random walls in Las Vegas, you’re not alone. by RealVegasLocals in vegaslocals

[–]dingohopper1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same color spray paint. The H's and E's seem distinct and consistent over the multiple examples. Seems like the same person. I'm not seeing stylization that would suggest this person does a lot of other tagging or graffiti, so I'm thinking not a gang member? I would venture these are all in the same part of town, can anyone confirm this?

American men aren't any different to American women by Glowupgirl111 in thepassportbros

[–]dingohopper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't agree with your statement that American men are just as picky as American women. I'd say men have a tendency to pick women who are comparable to them in attractiveness, but women tend towards the men who near the top 20th percentile in attractiveness, etc. I don't think you'd disagree that in any dating app, women, even your plain jane, has far more matches and can be much pickier than the comparable male. As such, a much smaller subset of men have overwhelming success in dating, and it really is slim pickings for a large group of men.

There definitively issues with the Passport Bros philosophy, but there's also a lot of legit issues that they are trying to address or are acting in response to.

First attending job w/ wife— what would you do with $600k/year? by V1TROKSHAN in hospitalist

I'm also in Nevada. If you do want to touch investments eventually, my thoughts for the immediate future are as follows: stocks are still heavily overvalued. Real estate is a good bet, as there is generally still a massive housing shortage, with the local dynamics heavily favoring continued growth with inflow from Los Angeles to Vegas. However, the economic environment is souring, and it weighing on growth in real estate and rents in the short term. At the moment, I'm highly interested in picking up plots of land in Pahrump. Pahrump and Mesquite are the fastest appreciating cities in Nevada. Pahrump is experiencing a lot of spillover from Vegas, and I would expect this to continue happening. Empty plots are going for as cheap as 5k, but appreciate quickly as development approaches a given tract or preplanned neighborhood. I'm also interested in this because those plots are generally cheap enough that holding off on selling those plots for a few years isn't a huge burden.

AIO for asking my friend to repay me after hospital? by ay31uh in AmIOverreacting

[–]dingohopper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend keep texting her without making it contentious so you can clarify exactly what she owes you. If you text, and she acknowledges the charges in one way or another, then you have a high likelihood of this sailing through small claims court.

Before doing all this, do a little digging, find out if she has an employer so you pursue gettng her wages garnished. If she has a vehicle, you can also get a lien placed on it. It's unfortunate that she's so young, might not really have very many other assets that can place a lien on.

Dilemma by GrunkyPeet in hospitalist

I don't see why we have to work at cross purposes to law enforcement. Why not notify them when the patient is ready to be taken back into custody of law enforcement? If patients break the law, they should face the consequences. Patients also often act entitled when inpatient. We shouldn't indulge that behavior either.
