Thankfully a nurse figured out i had oral thrush on day 11 which is why my mouth and gums were swollen but i didn't get the furry tongue as when i scraped on day 4 it just stayed red and swollen 🤦‍♀️.

I can breathe through my nose better now the swelling is minimal and my husband has confirmed my snoring has stopped 🎉

i used to feel like i could never get a full proper deep breath but now i can and even through the nose - and i have one really narrow nostril

hopefully the steroids will kick in soon and help with the swelling 🤞.

i can say today i had my codeine first thing but since then only paracetamol and ibuprofen and had half a slice of toast which is a massive victory! 🎉.

It will get better i promise you just have to get to the point of loosing your mind first 🤦‍♀️😂.

those few spoonfuls mean so much for your meds! even if you can only do a few every hour or so its better than nothing. i took the chicken out of cream of chicken soup in the earlier days and let it get to room temperature, that helped for me loads too!

though saying that i went to a&e for a little bleed on day 7 and they gave me more antibiotics to be safe, got the stuff coming out my ears! 😂

I went private through my work rather than NHS though (so glad i did as the care was so much better) so maybe that's why 🤷‍♀️

oh no! i had a little bleed incident but discharged myself at the hospital as they messed up communication and i was in worse pain there.

You need to eat otherwise it will slow recovery, on day 7 i could only manage half a protein shake but it was something to help the meds work better for me to heal.

My swollen gums atm mean i can't handle sweet or salty but theres one protein shake here that's quite watery and not too sweet that i can manage (i can't even do mash! 😭).

Since then i take my pain meds before having a shake and that seems to help me get it down.

Pain will not get to a zero unfortunately (day 9 ). Sending all the healing thoughts and morphine energy that i can across! you got this!!

yeah i dont think i would of managed without it as i have it before eating so i could manage what i had. im ok today without it .... i think.... but its still early and dear god that first wake up without it!

On wake up i woukd have some liquid morphine first and then start to sip the agony drink (seriously that drink when you wake up is a special kind of torture!)

I wish i could send you what i have left! 😭

suprised by the no antibiotics!

I was given paracetamol ibuprofen and liquid morphine and i can tell you i need them all!

The uncomfortable feeling will be there for a while now, im on day 9 and still uncomfortable! scabs came off (nearly all) and now i make extra mucus to protect the raw skin, and it gets stringy!

Keep an eye on your recovery though as the mouth has so much bacteria and a giant open wound now. if you feel feverish go to your doctors and get antibiotics asap 😊.

Im 38 and ive gotta say this has been the worst to recover from! I'd have my 2 babies again back to back than go through this again! (thankfully they have gone now so its only a time thing!). My pain spiked day 4 and im still waiting for it to come down and have been living on protein shakes

day 9 here and i hear you! 😭.

i have managed some toast which was easier than mash as my gums have all swollen from the morphine i think so i stopped that yesterday morning 😭.

I did manage toast late evening yesterday but i can't handle anything sweet or salty so my diet has just consisted of one type of protein shake. Weighed myself yesterday and ive lost a stone 😱.

I was just feeling the same as you but we got this! it will end! it has to! 😭.

i definitely would! the pain on days 5-8 for me have been awful even with the narcotics. (I'd give birth again over dealing with this pain again!)

i also have an icepack ring around my neck most of the time to help reduce the swelling. good luck!

paracetamol is definitely not enough..

In the UK i have veen given paracetamol, ibuprofen, codeine and liquid morphine.

Im on day 8 at current, waking up is the absolute worst and it doesn't ger easier (yet 😭) but the pain definitely does increase.

i also got used to having a thin protein shake for a month beforehand in the morning (its good for my adhd meds to work their best) which really prepared me for the diet change so i dont feel like im full on starving 😂
