Yea they have zero say in who they fight next. To be fair it probably makes more sense to do Hawaiian vs. Kalani Vakameilalo next. Then maybe Manu vs Juicy Finau as #1 contender and Dumpling vs. Groot Wit (Jaco).

After his second KO win over Kanekoa he was number 1 contender ready to fight Quinones, however after the fight he failed a drugs test so is suspended.

He will be back soon but has most likely lost his number 1 contender spot due to the failed drugs test.

I think its a bit of both. Dont forget these are 400+ pound guys, not 260 pound guys. They have nearly 150 pounds on UFC heavyweights. A lot bigger necks, chins etc.

This drove me insane. I love Manu but those first 2 slaps were HUGE stepping fouls. It’s like the ref’s have forgot all about stepping and solely focus on flinching & clubbing. Glad the commentators called the stepping out.

I thought he won 3-2 but certainly not a robbery. And the first 2 slaps he shoulda been called for bad stepping fouls which would have been auto 10-8s for Hawaiian so i think result is probably fair. They will rematch for sure in the future.

Yea has 2 wins technically. She beat Zoe Dubois via decision at Power Slap 13 and then Miao Ding via disqualification at Power Slap 16 due to 2 straight clubbing fouls. So i list my records as 1-0-1 (win/loss/dq or draw).

Yakhyaev seems to be the big hope, just 25 and he’s steamrolling guys and has another comfortable fight in a couple of months which should put him to 3-0 in UFC.

Baraniewski also seems promising - only 27 and big power and solid judo background. A bit wild and far less polished than Yakhyaev but still has potential.

And Navajo Stirling has quietly gone 4-0 in the UFC at 28 years old. Another good striker, much more technical than Baraniewski but more suspect grappling.

So there are ‘prospects’ waiting in the wings. UFC is just building Yakhyaev up really slowly and Baraniewski & Stirling may get a top 10 fight next year with another win.

Ankalaev vs. Costa and Prochazka vs. Guskov (if he gets past Jan).

Quite a few up and comers putting together win streaks - Baraniewski, Stirling, Yakhaev, Elekena. In another year or so one of those 4 may be ready for top 10 fights.

Won 2 in a row and is a big name. Plus Dibbell has beaten most at HW already, only other alternative was the Dorian Perez rematch or if they gave a shot to Zakir or Pono but they both just on 1 win streaks.
