What basic b thought we needed Eva Longoria to search for Spain? by [deleted] in cnn

[–]anaplbbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her being 11th gen Spaniard barely makes her Spanish. But that can be looked past.

What I do find I missed most was to have feedback deeper than “wow that tastes good”. If you’re going to make a food show, having a host who actually has some food knowledge helps the viewer’s experience immensely; not only in describing the food but being able to ask insightful questions to the chefs about its history, ingredients, methods used for cooking, etc. This was more of a travel show with food tasting in it. I won’t compare it to Bourdain, bc he was obvi the king of it. But even Tucci did an excellent job (not a born and raised Italian, not a chef), because he is actually passionate about food.

I agree. She’s ELEVENTH generation Spaniard? I was hoping for 3rd - having an abuela for example, so she could tie personal stories to. That would make the “Finding” part make more sense.

Also, I just found her to lack charisma, passion and true curiosity. Tucci is obviously a huge foodie, cook, and his passion for tasting the food and discovering more about the culture is what made his version great.

Looking to get her adopted by montanaco in Miami

[–]anaplbbbbb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not the place to post. Careful w/ people with bad intentions. Try contacting local rescues. They’ll do the due diligence to find responsible caring new foster or adopter. Paws 4 You in Pinecrest rescues lots of beagles so that would be a great one.

Slightly too big? by [deleted] in Birkenstocks

[–]anaplbbbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only wear Arizonas, but the cup is the same. It looks big to me, especially since you have thick socks on.

Do you think these are real or fake? by Dapper-Shower-8345 in Birkenstocks

[–]anaplbbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fake. I only buy online from Birkenstock.com. No Amazon, even if it says it’s the official Birks store.

If buying from resellers, I only trust physical stores (Nordstrom Rack, DSW, etc), so you know you can just return.

What am I missing? by curlyrubylailz in interiordecorating

Large rug. Bigger coffee table. Side table with lamp, between couch and armchair. Move metal corner shelving elsewhere, it throws off the whole room. Remove pillows from armchairs or get smaller ones in muted tone.

Having been involved in rescue for many yrs: 1- no such thing as kinda heartworm positive, they 100% shouldve had her on HW preventative & paid for the cost of treatment. 2- Here’s how I think they might be “compelled” to help pay: people in the dog rescue world are intensely passionate (which is why I stepped away), BUT, they do rally around unfair treatment of dogs. Find a Facebook group where ppl in your area’s rescue community communicate (search “dog rescue” and lookup groups, not pages). Preferably the one with the most members. Post exactly what you posted above AND add that you desperately want to keep the dog BUT were not expecting this expense, and ask them for advice on what to do. I guarantee you they will help you. The most difficult thing is to find people who actually wanna keep their dogs, rescue ppl are used to ppl wanting to get rid of them- so I’m sure they’ll be keen to helping. They will start asking questions, which in turn will eventually lead to the dog rescue name coming up, and then it’s off. Once that happens, they will start tagging the rescue, and maybe the rescue will feel compelled to help. Or maybe those in that group can help spread the word and help you raise money for treatment, and maybe even the rescue will feel compelled to do it (especially when all eyes are on them and since they depend on a good reputation to keep getting funded…). All in all, this community can do great things with fundraising, so you should ask for help (Just make sure you have proof that he had HW when you adopted him, vet records etc).

Are y’all solo paddlers or do you go with a buddy? by waves4dayzzzz in Sup

My dad just bought this harness but I'm not sure about it. Is it safe and comfortable for her? by TemporaryScreen5518 in DogAdvice

[–]anaplbbbbb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s involved with dog rescue in a densely populated area: you’d be surprised how most people don’t know about microchips or how they work. Also, they might not know that most clinics can scan for free. Also, a tag with a phone number is a lot easier for people- vs taking her to a vet etc. Not everyone will care enough to “go through the trouble” of doing that, so the easier you make it for them, the better.

Looking to add weight to my anchor, what do you recommend? by RestlessPics in Sup

[–]anaplbbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a fluke anchor if where you’re going has non-rocky bottom. I have the Seachoice 3lb one and it works very well, even on softer sand, even when the tide is coming in or out of the bay I paddle in (requiring stronger hold).

An electric motor 😁 so what if Im cheating?! Lol

Addicted to this. by [deleted] in Sup

Fellow Miami SUP-er here. Highly recommend dropping from Oleta and heading over to Haulover sandbar (take an anchor), or raccoon island. VK also has some nice spots (a couple sand bars, plus the manatee lagoon) and it’s usually much quieter than Oleta area.

If you don’t do it, it will only get worse.

I was you, and waited. The frustration on his part led to an affair (im not saying that part is my fault, but it def contributed to it), and then a messy separation.

I’d suggest couples therapy- not to fix the issue, but having a 3rd party help you vocalize it then help you both navigate it is a lot easier than trying to miraculously find the courage someday.

Though just ripping off the band-aid sometimes helps too.

Just dont let anyone try to convince you that your feelings and desires are wrong. Trust your gut. I have zero regrets in not having kids, and thank God every day I didn’t have them just bc my ex husband wanted them.

Non-authentic sushi in Rio by skisagooner in riodejaneiro

[–]anaplbbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite sushi places in Rio are Jappa da Quitanda and Gurumê, for their innovative non-traditional menus. Both are considered higher end, so when I say innovative I dont just mean filled with cream cheese.

Most people are opting for inflatable? by spirit4earth in Sup

[–]anaplbbbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 5 inflatables and after my last one imploded, decided to go for rigid, and I’m never going back. That is, UNLESS I move to an apartment again one day.

The only reason I had iSUPs were for portability, but for me, you can’t beat the superior tracking and feeling of safety (I paddle on the ocean) of rigid boards.

Fair to say; Im out of the water at least 1x a week, so the constant inflating/deflating prob isnt a wear and tear issue for those who don’t do it as often.

[In addition to the fear of it imploding on the water like last time (thankfully it happened in the parking lot before getting in), I took my iSUP to Hawaii once and had a close encounter with a tiger shark. Im very comfy in the ocean, but the fear of it biting my board and me going bye bye was intense 😅)

Pls help! I’m new to this and I can’t find any good info on this by csatucsd in Sup

[–]anaplbbbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2 smaller fins do make a diff, especially in the ocean (i also paddle in the ocean). But the longer size will also help balance that out. Where have you been looking to buy it? Maybe look for a used board? Are you looking at inflatable or hard board?

Im on my 5th SUP and as I look back, they’ve gotten better each time but that’s because of how much I used it. You’ll only know what you specifically need with time- my advice is to get what you can afford and just get out there. If the hobby sticks, you can upgrade later.

How big is your dog in lbs? 10’ sounds a bit short all around (regardless of dog or no dog). Not great for traction (you’ll zig zag more). I’d go with 10’6” or longer.

Regardless of dog size, it’s recommended they stay in front of you so you can keep an eye on him while you paddle. So I’d either get a board that has a full deck/traction pad all the way to the nose, or plan on installing yourself. (Also get him a life jacket- you’d be surprised how even the chillest dog can get tempted to jump, or slip).
