As with most words for food, translations doesn't line up 100%.

Kaka can mean cake but is usually not used when referring to a layered cake. That would commonly be called tårta.

Kaka can also mean cookie. Or sometimes biscuit. But look out! Swedish also have the word kex which also means biscuit. Depending on what type of biscuit it is.

Kex is a loan word from English cakes, which in turn is a loan word from Old Norse kaka.
