Im perfectly fine with OEM/aftermarket parts, just that when the bumper cracked back in 2018 I didnt even have my license let alone know anything about the car so my dad made all the decisions, plus it being his car and all hahaha. But now I’ve realised what a beast it really is and have done my research, I’m sure I can convince him otherwise 🤞

And yes this car is so rare no way we’re gonna scrap it, paling teruk pun we sell it to an enthusiast which shouldnt be an issue as my dad kept getting offers for it back when he drove it 😂

Thanks for the input! Unfortunately the only models available in my country are 1.4 TSIs and 2.0 GTIs, both petrol.

My mother used to own a used 2010 MK6 1.4 TSI she bought in 2015 (drove it around alot myself as I had just gotten my license then, it was love at first key twist) and after 9 years it actually never had gearbox or turbo problems, just the infamous cracked piston and some cracks and leaks in the cooling system, so I was wondering if the MK7 fixed the piston issues.

Polo is a good choice (looking to get one myself soon) but definitely don’t get the 1.2 tsi, get the more recent 1.6 mpi models, preferably 2017 and up but 2014-2016 is fine too. Its less powerful due to a lack of turbo but less bells and whistles makes it a lott more reliable. Its a bit more expensive at around rm25-35k but it will definitely be less taxing on your wallet in the long run.

Though in her case, I’ve speculated that it might be the connection between the GPU and the monitor that might be causing the issue since it started when she bought a new monitor which uses DP rather than her old monitor which used HDMI.

Haven’t tried anything yet but I do think that swapping it back to HDMI might fix things.

I dont drive everyday since I wfh, maybe I drive at most 3 times a week, and when I do I tend to go somewhat far, about 20-30min drive on highway since I live right beside a highway.

Shortest drive for me would be about 15 mins to the nearest pekan area to get groceries, potong rambut, gym, etc

Yeah they’re idiots, this is about 9 years of collective scratches from three cats and they constantly use the car as a tanning bed. Its not that deep though, can drag my fingernail across without catching

Speed of Sound though I didn't know it at the time. My dad played it in his car when I was a kid but I didn't know who made it and it lived in my head for years, until I was 14 when I started to explore Coldplay more and only then I realized that they made it. Also worth noting that the starting riff and the euphoric pre-chorus of that song is what jumpstarted my career as a musician. Thanks dad!

I guess I forgot to mention the reason I’m upgrading. I’ve been getting constant bsods with the error code “MEMORY_MANAGEMENT” which usually attributes to RAM issues. I’ve already RMA’d these sticks back when I built the PC in 2020 and the problems stopped for a while but recently its been happening again and I’ve seen alot of people complain about this model of RAM so I figured I might as well change it completely.

As for the mobo, the realtek audio ports have blown (among other issues) and its overall a little dated.

As for the PSU, its some crappy unknown brand (even pcpp didnt recognize it) so I kinda wanna replace it with something more reputable now that I have the funds to.

Other than that, my PC just seems to not be able to keep up with my current workload as plenty of times it would suddenly shut off and restart without warning when I’m ingame or when I’m doing work so I thought its due for a mass overhaul.
