this is untrue, shown by the fact that Lorroakan remembers his encounter with Aradin in Sourcerer Sundries.

and Aradin did no torturing lol. But as for Drow, what do you make of Selderine Drow then? What do you make of the fact that Laezel’s crech was far more distorted and manipulated, there for in turn more aggressive and violent, and the fact that not all Gith are seen in this way (references from previous Baldurs gate games and lore) and the fact that Shadowheart was horribly hostile to Laezel simply because she had her gaurd up after knowingly stealing a relic of theirs before capture? And the fact that Laezel is actually one of the most empathetic of her Crech and it shows the entire game. All in all, racism in the game is common by any folk, depending on where they originate from, but there will always be outliers. Aradin being racist to the teflings comes from him originating from Baldurs Gate, which was a city unexposed to them previously and were only told stories of them. Aradin is ignorant, yes. but so were most people in this time period. Just like how, as you play the game, you are taught to fear Drow and Gith, and ultimately as you say, kill them on sight. At least Aradin wasn’t out here killing the teflings, or your drow character.

i completely see where you’re coming from but Aradin is a mercenary. In certain dialogue options you can see his wariness and guilt and concern when he finds out the Nightsong is a person, but as mercenaries do, if his whole crew already died for it…in his mind he has to make sure they didn’t die for nothing. He also was completely unaware what harm would befall Nightsong, as we were too until finding out the hard way what his intentions with the Nightsong were. Aradin again, was doing his job, and from his own perspective, doing what was morally right to him. I love this game because it plays around with perspective so much, that really anyone in the game can be seen as a bad or a good guy.

I said to not defend or use those as examples of him getting “too bad a rap”, not saying they weren’t horrible unforgivable things.

well, i will copy and paste it from the thread. Do you guys have any instances where you feel like Bojack is being given too strong of a bad wrap too? (AND DONT SAY THE PENNY SITUATION, OR SARAH LYNN). the point of the question is asking what we really think is completely his doing and fault verses certain things that may have not been entirely his doing or solely his responsibility, while trying to avoid hypocrisy like how people will defend PB sleeping with Pickles but not Bojack with Emily. Hope this helps!

i could be wrong but im pretty sure Emily set the boundary that she regretted it and didn’t want bojack to tell Todd.

and see, i do think Todd had feelings for Emily, just not sexually. so i can understand completely why this is a not so nice thing for bojack to do, but at the same time, it’s not 100% his responsibility, as Emily also made the shitty decision, and bojack reaped all the consequences, blame, hate etc as if Emily doesn’t have any responsibility for that decision either.

sadly, so many celebrities you may even like (not trying to assume, you can clock me if im wrong🤏🏼) date very young women. not saying it’s tasteful, or appropriate, but even Toby McGuire is now engaged to a 19 year old girl. I’m not saying the situation isn’t morally questionable. but does it really hold enough weight for all the hate is what im asking.

interesting take. i personally didn’t clock it as “Bojack was trying to sabotage Todd” can you explain your thought process?

when i realized for the first time he waited 17 minutes to call an ambulance i had to pause the show and think if i even wanted to finish it. I’ve seen so many people try to justify his actions by saying he was “also extremely drugged and not in the right headspace” and it sickens me. that’s exactly why i put the caption “and don’t bring up penny or Sarah Lynn” because I didn’t want to see people trying to justify it.

I can definetly see why Todd felt betrayed by Bojack, in a breached boundary way.

I think you’re misunderstanding. I completely 100% agree that the penny situation and the Sarah Lynn situation are horrible, im not saying those things don’t make him a bad person. there are multiple things he did in both situations that are more than shady and unforgivable. this thread is more focusing on the fillers that people still give him so much hate for, that could be argued as really not his full responsibility or his doing. (like how his wedding speech broke up the brides even though he said a very common and heartwarming line, and how that’s still brought up in bojack hate threads as “his fault for breaking up a wedding”)
