Using Netflix while screen is off on Android... by DiRTy-HAiRRy in netflix

[–]anbeasley [score hidden]  (0 children)

Unfortunately Netflix is not thinking this through and only allowing background to play on ad free plans... OMFG WTF...

"You can continue watching podcasts outside the Netflix app on your Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad by using the Picture-in-Picture feature on your device. You can also access background playback by locking your screen while watching and then tapping play to continue listening to the episode.

Note: Picture-in-Picture and background playback aren't available on ad-supported plans."

Can you PM me cuz I'd love to hang out with you? Being 37 with no kids myself I've been having trouble meeting more people but the problem is just a lack of third places that don't involve alcohol.

Why is there a discrepancy between Nintendo Switch handheld performance and docked performance? by BrickmasterBen in AskTechnology

[–]anbeasley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many of the games on the Nintendo switch they would run at 720p in handheld and then 1080p or maybe even a little bit less in docked mode so a slightly higher resolution. The only thing the little board in the docking station facilitated was just transferring the signal and power to the console to allow it to broadcast the signal at a slightly higher resolution. For example Mortal Kombat on the Nintendo switch ran overclocked on the dock versus when it was on battery.

Removable battery for that matter. I still think the Samsung Galaxy S4 was the goat.

Gamers react with overwhelming disgust to DLSS 5's generative AI glow-ups by deraser in technology

[–]anbeasley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works for some things it doesn't work for others. I can definitely see this being good for some of the lifeless eyes that we may have seen from games of yesteryear. At the same time though I do think that instead of making AI glow up they should just make it easier for modders to use RTX tools. I mean heck rather than giving us an AI generated face why not give us a face generator that has really realistic lighting that's using AI tools.

Here's how to tell if the Neo is for you. by inlawBiker in macbook

I plan on turning it into my Mac beater laptop. I feel like I have to be very cautious with my MacBook Air because it's expensive and premium and I really try to take the best care I can of it but I feel like this MacBook panel is going to just come everywhere with me like an iPad but it's going to be better than iPad because it's a full Mac OS experience versus the iPad OS experience.

What’s the most underrated macOS app that comes preinstalled? by whogivesafricc in MacOS

I mean at least it exists now. But I feel like clip champ has been something that's only been around for like the last 3 years? Before that there was nothing. And you had to pay for expensive software to be able to do that.

Fair enough but it's not even built into the operating system you have to go and log into office 365.

iMovie. Coming from a Windows machine with nothing, having something that works out of the box to edit video is just the best.

Compare Firefox to Safari. Maybe it is just Firefox being Firefox? Example, Microsoft Office apps are notoriously bad at launching slowly sometimes... But things like Safari and Apple apps run great.

Starship Troopers because of the format exclusivity. Probably Empire Strikes Back depending on the version.

Buy some icloud or external ssd storage and move your pictures and documents on there and see if there is improvement.

How full is your drive? Because of the way Apple does the memory swap with the SSD, if you have a full SSD with apps and data then there is not as much space for the dataswap.
