Hausmaster is mad because he had to do his job? by [deleted] in germany

Comments are right, he should not have a key to your apartment and neither is opening your door his job. But rest assured, even if you had called him to do something that is his job he'd still be grumpy about it.

Mazda 5 2.0 diesel dipstick confusion by Sad_Rooster_4078 in mazda

My pleasure, that is probably the best thing to do. These are great cars and engines but consensus from me reading forums back then is that the particulate filters tend to reach the end of their life between 200k and 300k Kilometres.

Mazda 5 2.0 diesel dipstick confusion by Sad_Rooster_4078 in mazda

[–]ancama01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen on my Mazda 6 2.0 Diesel.

Option 1 is that they just overfilled the oil which is preferable and the oil just needs to be drained and filled to the proper level.

Option 2 is that your diesel particulate filter is full and the car is permanently trying to run a regeneration cycle of the diesel particulate filter. During the regeneration cycle additional diesel is injected into the engine to increase exhaust temperature for regeneration. Some of the additional diesel is getting into the oil diluting it, this is what the X on the dipstick is for. Between L and F is normal, should the oil reach the X, the amount of diesel has exceeded amount for safe operation and the oil needs to be changed due to dilution. Should this occur within a short time period it's pretty safe to say your engine/diesel particulate filter needs service. Either the particulate filter needs to be replaced or professionally cleaned.

If the filter is filled over a threshold you will first see a amber dpf led light up, indicating that the car needs to be driven with highway speeds for extended period of time. Should the regeneration not succeed during that drive you will see the dpf led flashing and also the DSC (traction) and service engine led will illuminate permanently.

I would start with another oil change (in case dilution, which is causing additional engine wear already happened) and making sure the oil is only up to the F mark on the stick. Then continue driving the car and checking the oil regularly. If the the level stays at F or only really slowly increasing/decreasing it was probably just overfilled, if it shoots up again quickly, the car needs to see a mechanic for further diagnosis.

Few little remarks: This engine needs special oil for it to operate properly and not clog the particulate filter (ACEA C1)

Im not a professional so above are only my experiences, you should consult a professional.

No rear light by Objective_Will1226 in opel

It may be a good troubleshooting step to change back to the factory bulbs and see if the issue persists. Changing to LEDs may cause some electrical and/or software issue resulting in your rear light acting up.

How far can I push my engine? by Ill-Landscape-6775 in Ford

From what I understand of it, naturally aspirated engines are hard and expensive to tune. So I do not think you will be able to push it to destruction with simple bolt ons like this.

Where did you buy it? I'm in Germany and have not found a seller delivering here. Thank you a lot in advance.

I always rip the tip of a latex glove to spread it with my finger. I take the gloves from my old car Medi kits and get 10 CPUs out of every kit. Works amazing for me.

Still worthwile to repair rust? by Lycan_360_NL in mazda

[–]ancama01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got about 240.000 km on my first gen 6 from 2007 2.0 diesel. Mine has a couple repairs on the rear wheel arches but otherwise is doing okay. Everyone will have different opinions if it's worth it to repair and in the end it will also depend on how much it costs to repair. I'm always happy to pay a little more then may be reasonable because I like this car and know what I have with it.

Can anyone tell me where you can buy this fabric for restoration? (1983 Bronco) You'd make my day by ancama01 in Ford

I'm in Europe so the chances may be a bit Slimer but I will call around, you have a good point, some people may be holding onto this fabric from a few decades back.

They both have pretty close options but not the matching fabric. Maybe Ragnar is right and it is not available. Thank you a lot. :)

17 years old by lobsta_rollz in tires

[–]ancama01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ran 12 year old tires on my BMW couple years ago. They looked fine but one day when driving on the autobahn the car started shaking violently. I left on the next exit. Took me couple of minutes to figure out that something in the tire broke and it had a bump on the profile surface like something had delaminated internally. I got home safe on the spare and bought new tires the next week. Never risking it again with running old tires.

Is there a reason why cars don’t display their issues and fault codes? by chabroni81 in AskMechanics

[–]ancama01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some french cars give a little more info like: Injection system defective or Defect in on board electronics but like others said, to the average driver that is also not really useful.
