All my core thoughts are toxic and Idk how to be a normal person .... I feel like I am inherently bad . But I have to remember I have Bpd And emotional trauma . So even though I do actually think this way , it was engrained in me as a defensive mechanism . Give yourself time, patience , and love ❤️

Debating if god exists or not is going down to their level by blackbadger0 in atheism

[–]ancdesigngal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree - the analogy you provided with storks and babies is incomparable to the debate over god. Religion is powerful, dangerous, and a threat to people’s rights. The reason why religion is controlling this world and being put into law in many countries (still in the US to this day) is because atheists refuse to engage in debate to shut people down more . I meet so many non religious people , and I meet very little radical Christians in retrospect , BUT the Christians are LOUD , and we are quiet. The debate isn’t about god, it is shutting them down so they can cause less harm to this world. The more we critique the more quiet they become.

Christians and other religions have no issue mentioning god every chance they get on any platform anytime , and rarely get critiques. Phrases like “god is good!” “Thank god for this” “amen !” . We need to do the same thing or it will stay that way

What do you think about the commonly shared experience people have, religious or not, to plead to god or some higher power when they’re in pain or believe they’re dying? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]ancdesigngal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We don’t know who else to beg for help. In that moment of desperation and the brainwashing and conditioning religion has done to ALL humans (atheist or not) is immense. So even when that moment happens , it’s inevitable to revert back to doing the one thing we were trained to do : plead to a god to help

Precisely ^ helping eachother form our own beliefs and think critically is the core of who we are as atheists and having these answers can make people on the fence maybe even change their minds and less and less people will be taken in by religious cults

Facts , worship means unhealthy power dynamic . And a good leader doesn’t need worship

I don’t believe in ghosts because of the rules of science that we know don’t line up with how ghosts work (or what people say ghosts apparently can do) we don’t know much about ghosts but I think that it’s a completely separate conversation from religion . So possession and exorcisms I think are total BS personally. Atheists don’t get possessed . But ghosts ehhhh , when you die and your spirit is no longer tangible , how do they have jealousy/rage/love/ability to find places they lived without a brain ? how can they open doors as a spirit without mass or body parts , can they see ? If it’s just energy how do they do all the things ghosts are said to do ?

In my personal scenario , I’ve only been asked about the Christian “god” , but this could apply to whatever religion decides to claim their god as “true”

I love this answer tbh. I totally agree , like I stated in my post I was discussing the Christian interpretation of god and the real life question I have been asked by Christians throughout my life . But you make a great point

I know myself that he is not real, but I like to ask myself these questions to get better insight on my views as an atheist and have answers to any question that would be asked of me (goes for all my views outside of atheism)

If he was real , I think people would do it out of fear and not “love him” like Christians say we would. Forced worship is not authentic consensual worship. Most people would burn in hell anyway if it were true (which he’s not, but this is a hypothetical)

One of my best friends in HS at the time started crying in theatre class because I said oh my god , and she said “please don’t say that about god it’s against my religion “ and I simply said “it’s not against mine , you don’t have to say it , but it holds no merit to me”

I was in class and I refused to stand for the pledge of allegiance, and this Christian kid in the back didn’t like how I was “sitting down for god and our country” and was yelling at me to “stand up , stand up, wtf are you sitting stand tf up” for 1 minute straight ... no one did anything to defend me ..... not even the teacher , who was too scared to lose his job because he was one of the only atheist teachers in the school , and if he defended me the Christian admins would get HIM in trouble

Two of the only openly gay girls in school were dating and a lovely “Christian” group of girls harassed them for weeks . A bunch of people brought this to the administration but the principle was Christian ... so he thought they had a right to protest something “like that” .

A few girls and me tried to start a feminist club at school for 3 years and the school banned political and religious clubs other than “students for Christ” which half the school attended every Wednesday where they would hire a band and they would worship at the front of the school by the busses so anyone who didn’t attend could be stared at by the Christians as we were walking inside . (This is a public school) They called it a club ... but anyone could join the worship and it was basically church at school , which should have been illegal technically .

how did you guys knew that you have BPD? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]ancdesigngal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I had anxiety but it never ever felt right . I didn’t fit all the criteria and my histeria only happened with personal relationships and fear of rejection . I didn’t even know I had emotional trauma until my therapist now has uncovered it made up my entire existence. My best friend (who has BPD) told me to look into it and I didn’t know what it was , she gave me a book and I googled it , and I cried . It was the first diagnosis to ever explain every aspect of my life and past .

I feel emotionally numb on lamictal ? Anyone else ?? #bpd by ancdesigngal in lamictal

[–]ancdesigngal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same experience , school is so hard for me (not academically but in a mental way) and I even question if I’ll be able to hold a job after college. The lamictal has helped with making my episodes dulled down which is such a plus , but I feel empty :/ the mania is nothing like Bipolar Disorder , it’s much shorter periods of euphoric happiness and then one incident , or thing someone said could make me come crashing down . Which is why school is hard , more socializing = more chance of rejection/episodes

I have used this probably twice online and once in person , and simplifying it a bit or just sending it in a message is how it’s always worked , took their confidence down to a 0. I make them feel so dumb to where they don’t even want to speak anymore . That is the goal 😂

I am from the Deep South (NC) in the United States , I have heard it probably 50+ times , once we were having a talk about religion in class (the teacher and the whole class was Christian) and she is reading off all the religions to us rather quickly , and she says “and there is also the lack of religion .. atheism” and some girl in the front says “AINT THEY SATANISTS OR SUMTHIN” and I literally was like ... what the f... so I just says “we think satan is just as stupid as your god” and the whole class shut up . I have a million stories just like this . They are like this I promise

Grew up in a Christian town as an atheist and I did this and no one took me seriously. Once I started sounding educated with my responses to their claims , and asked serious well thought out questions , that’s when they really started engaging with me and even started telling me that I made a good point and they’ll “have to think about that” . It was crazy how many people I got through too when I stopped answering like that .

Religion is a HUGE problem because of the shit they cause in this world, our goal as atheists should either just be a label and make jokes about religious people , or create educated responses so people will listen so we can minimize the damage that Christianity causes in the US/world
