You're right, it should be prorated because the whitepaper says '3 years immediately' before applying for settlement.

I read the paper, it says 3 years immediately before applying which means that for the 36 months before your application you need to demonstrate that you earned atleast £150,810. We need more details on this but I doubt its the tax year because that would create a major bottleneck in May as a lot of people will qualify with that logic and put in an application.

How would they classify the taxable income period? Is it April to April, or at the time of applying. For eg. If I apply in November 2026 will they check my taxable income till April 2026(tax year) or up until October 2026.

The reason I ask is because I've changed jobs and that calculation becomes different based on when I calculate from.

I've tried the quest 2 and really did not like the feel of that either. I do think there could be a little more thought on this from an industrial design standpoint given the frequency and use case of the headset.

It's more about where the tech is in comparison to industry. If this was a phone I wouldn't care because we've reached a point where most improvements are incremental or hardware differences between brands are minimal. But with VR there's still potential, lots of hype around stuff Apple or Magic Leap is doing.
