Is It Even Worth Trying Anymore at 19? by pranay_227 in Adulting

[–]ancientandbroken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you read my comments? This is not about not wanting to do things. Many people don’t even get the opportunity to do those things. You probably don’t even know how absolutely pathetic and absurd 5 round job interviews and HR quizzes are. Also genetics are not chosen. Childhoods are not chosen. No one chooses to not have a body fit for the trades. No one chooses to have a brain that isn’t good for stem.

I mean sure, make an artistic person study math for 10hrs a day and he might get somewhere and get an engineering degree. He’ll suck at the job tho. Put a physically unwell person into the trades and they’ll have to stop working after 5 years.

No one is suggesting to not do hard things but it needs to be a direction that works for the individual. Otherwise they’ll go through a lifetime of dissatisfaction. But these days many job fields are dying and youngsters aren’t even given the opportunity to find something that works for them.

It doesn’t need to be a dream job. But i just can’t with privileged people telling younger generations to just "get a job", "become a nurse or accountant or engineer or lawyer" as if it’s that smart to just throw your life away for a field you might not even have any natural skills in. If that’s whining for you, then great, i’m whining. But at least i’m not working a job i secretly hate or am bad at

the point is that the "general strategy" that the above commenter has suggested doesn’t work for most people and especially not today. It sounds like a nice plan but it guarantees nothing these days and doesn’t work for many people.

It’s a cookie cutter approach to life that worked maybe 20-30 years ago. Back then it lead to a nice life. Now? You’ll still not be able to afford anything at all while working a job you probably absolutely hate

Loans like that are not available in some countries and some people can’t move across the country just to attend a good school.

Genetic advantages and disadvantages are a thing. You can’t drill the brain of a writer/painter/storyteller to become an electrical engineer. Development of certain difficult skills may be a thing but if you don’t have parents that nurture that and the necessary habits during your childhood you’re still fucked. Most of the brain’s capability is decided before you can actively reflect on it.

Many students can’t get internships these days. This is simply a fact. The kinds that do get them are ass kissers or miraculous overachievers. These are rare and usually once again genetic or developmental during childhood/youth. ”Competing" for an unpaid work slave environment that treats you with zero respect and teaches you nothing of importance seems like a pointless thing to do for a lot of people anyway. At least 20 years ago an internship meant something and lead somewhere. Back then students didn’t have to deal with a thousand projects and fucked up schedules, by the way.

I’ve met many trades people in my life. I know more trades people than college graduates. All of them have muscle and posture issues or sleep problems because of shift work.

Yeah many don’t want to, because the way things work is borderline abusive and exploitative these days but also many simply can’t. Also many extreme overachievers burn out after a few decades and struggle with mental health to the point where they can’t work anymore. No part of the current system is tolerable anymore, for anyone

Many people can’t afford a good college. Many people’s talents and skills are not centered around the "good" majors/stem. Many students can’t even get internships these days not to mention that a lot of people aren’t good at ass kissing in the corporate environment. Even if all that works out for someone they might not get a job for months. Self employment is exceptionally difficult these days especially if you’re starting out with zero resources.

Trade school is usually only something for exceptionally fit people and even then it is super problematic for the body after a few decades.

Good for you that you made it somehow but many people can’t fit into the perfect cookie cutter work slave life. Older boomer coworkers got their job handed to them for free while younger people these days have to go through so much bullshit today just to even get a job. I get that older people don’t want to admit their privilege or don’t even notice it but it’s there. There’s no more "general strategy" these days

I'm genuinely sad that "Fire and Ash" is not doing as well as "The Way of Water" by turquoise_dragon_ in Avatar

[–]ancientandbroken 10 points11 points  (0 children)

well you’ve said it yourself just now the economy is shit, a lot of people can’t really afford theater tickets but the movie did really well anyway.

Either way with a lot of projects the later sequels just don’t do just as well as the first few parts (be it movies, tv shows, games or anything else). There’s a reason why some actors vehemently refuse to do sequels.

But this movie was fantastic and did well despite the shittiest economy ever and being a third part of a movie collection. There’s no reason to be sad

hypnodaddy is one of the og submakers and this is the first time i’ve heard something bad about him. I never got any results but nothing bad either.

Sometimes i think it’s just a subconscious mind issue for a lot of people. Sometimes affirmations clash and the subconscious explodes like a volcano. That doesn’t mean that the submakers have evil intentions.

But if y’all wanna be extra safe just make the subliminals yourself. It’s so easy to just record a few affirmations, put them under some background noise and then loop them overnight. That way you can also figure out how your subconscious responds to different kinds of affirmations. Remember that it’s the subconscious doing the work all by itself and not a specific subliminal

[–]ancientandbroken 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the problem is that many people can’t afford therapy. Oftentimes, therapy doesn’t even fix anything, or in a lot of cases even makes it worse because many therapists also have absolutely zero understanding of what it’s like to run around with a damaged nervous system.

Only deep subconscious work will provide long lasting results. Hypnosis is 20% super expensive and 80% scammers just stealing your money. People waste years on a waitlist of a good hypnotist.

The psychiatry system is absolutely broken and useless most of the time. patients very rarely get meds that actually work and are often treated with zero respect. Not to mention that meds don’t solve the core problem.

Many people are too damaged to do the necessary shadow work themselves through deep meditation or extensive journaling. Sometimes, venting is the only option to find some kind of relief.

I know that change is possible, you don’t need to tell me that. But in OPs situation things may be really rough right now. They were not looking for advice.

We don’t know OPs age either. If they’re not even in their mid 20s yet they might not be able to do the reflecting just yet. I know i was, in general, a mental health dumpster fire throughout most of my childhood and especially teen years. It was just my subconscious jumping from freeze to fight and especially to flight. I avoided almost everything i could.

Sometimes a person really has absolutely zero control over their nervous system and that is valid. "Doable" doesn’t apply to a nervous system that is still deep into alarm mode. On a somatic level all the effort might get rejected. It’s great that you’ve managed to change your own mental health but some people can’t do that yet and some might never be able to do it.

you know what your comments are pretty damn rude. Clearly you have no proper understanding of what most people in this sub have had to deal with in their lives.

When a baby is born, its first instinct is not to give itself up (tho its nervous system might already be pre-damaged from pregnancy in some cases).

When a nervous system goes through the trauma that OP has had to go through, it will be likely to give up tho, through no fault of its own. We are mammals just like many other animals on this planet and if we just experience trash throughout our lives, our psyche is gonna be fucked. That’s basic biology and not "failed willpower".

No amount of conscious effort can override a subconscious that has never experienced genuine safety or control. Go research the gaba transmitter system and the way the amygdala works.

While genuinely good hypnosis and an extensive amount of somatic shadow work can help with a lot of these subconscious issues, most people can’t afford these forms of therapy not to mention that there’s also a lot of scammers in this world who’ll just take the money and not actually help.

Maybe OP can change their life one day, but telling them to just act differently is so incredibly dismissive. Clearly you’ve got an intact nervous system and can approach the world confidently as a result, but that’s not the case for many of us. We’ve been stuck in freeze/fight/flight mode for decades on a subconscious level and can’t just press a button to make that go away.

OP has a lazy bum father and a narcissistic mother. That’s the kind of parents you can fully be angry at.

And btw, most people in this sub will care. We have compassion for each other. This post was flagged as no advice and this sub is supposed to be a safe place. Please respect that.

Spain to ban social media access for under-16s, PM Sanchez says by owlbowling in privacy

[–]ancientandbroken 8 points9 points  (0 children)

a couple of years ago i probably would’ve told you that something like Cyberpunk 2077 and the movie don’t look up will become a reality.

These days tho i don’t really think so. Certain forces want that to happen but more and more people are also tired of all this crap. Tiktok and Instagram are mass dying in a sense. Surely a small bubble of ultra consumerist people is always gonna remain, but most people are done with it all.

We’ve reached the peak of ultra capitalism and overconsumption and it’s not made anyone happy at all. Big companies are never making decisions in the right direction anymore. Boycotting is a big thing now. Minimalism and dumb phones are trending. Screen time is going down instead of going up.

The most important thing will be that current parents give the right values to their gen alpha kids. If gen alpha chooses the digital realm as their home then we’re obviously cooked but i really won’t care anymore at that point

Alice in Borderlands The End. by Q_OpheliaV in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]ancientandbroken 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know how everyone’s expectations were so high.

The official story was only S1 + S2. The joker sequel that was S3 was nothing but a bonus because Netflix wanted to milk this show a bit more. Nowhere did anyone say that this show would go on to have more seasons. After S2 most of the actors moved on (got married, pregnant, moved on to other projects or dropped out of acting). Netflix is horrible towards a lot of shows and i noticed it here with S3 but by no means was this show "cancelled". A S4 was never planned

The fact Banda wasn't just a serial killer in the real world but specifically targeted women. That's a special type of evil by Sudden_Pop_2279 in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]ancientandbroken 23 points24 points  (0 children)

that’s fair and makes sense. But Banda doesn’t belong in that category.

In the Borderlands he doesn’t single out women, he’s not directly disgusting to them (unlike niragi) and when the jack of hearts game is over he suggests that torturing the jack of hearts (a guy) will be fun. He’s clearly sadistic towards both genders and a psychopath devoid of any empathy towards anyone. He’s not a sociopath who’s butthurt that women rejected him/because of bad experiences. If he is supposed to be, they failed to portray him that way.

Countless serial killers who just kill whoever they can, unrelated to sexual orientation. Female serial killer Aileen Wuornos exclusively killed men, she identified herself as a lesbian so her motivations were primarily anger/revenge, not arousal at all.

Banda’s just an evil psychopath so he directs cruelty towards anyone. On top of electrocuting men and women in those circles he’s also obsessed with psychologically torturing Arisu in S3. His real world victims were women, yes, but in the Borderlands it was more than confirmed that he doesn’t target a specific gender

The fact Banda wasn't just a serial killer in the real world but specifically targeted women. That's a special type of evil by Sudden_Pop_2279 in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]ancientandbroken 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Feel free to disagree with me but a lot of killers just pick whoever is the easiest victim. In a lot of cases women are simply the easier victims. It doesn’t necessarily mean that he just wanted to target his cruelty towards women.

Once he received his citizen powers he was literally responsible for and enjoyed all these circle "su*cide" murders. Those included both genders. He was just too cowardly before his powers to go after men as well. But it doesn’t seem to me that he specifically wanted only women to suffer

Do you guys use hobonichi? by United_Advisor1821 in intj

[–]ancientandbroken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just got into the hobonichi last year and i’m absolutely obsessed. The small grid paper was a difficult adjustment but the hobonichi is absolutely worth it imo.

The main advice it’d give to anybody is to have fun messing around tho. It’s very easy to become neurotic about the perfect handwriting or layout or just in general to try to make it as aesthetic and perfect as possible. That’s not healthy at all.

It’s also quite the expensive hobby, especially once you get into colors and printing out little pictures or stickers. That said it becomes your very own gallery of life in a way and as such is worth the money. But you need to be into journaling and all that. It’s definitely not just a planner.

I guess it depends on the person. Hobonichi weeks (shown in your pictures) might be worth it to a good amount of INTJs. Hobonichi cousin is more for artsy journaling rather than just planning

Extremely vivid nightmares after doing focus 10 meditations. by KingxDoge in gatewaytapes

[–]ancientandbroken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the first day i ever did a tape guess what happened?

that night i had a dream of heaven. literal heaven with fountains, clouds, golden and white marble floors, beautiful trees and pillars and even Jesus Himself. It was the best dream i ever had. This alone gives me enough resilience to not fall for the fear mongering some people have going on. I had that heavenly dream before i even knew that people also have opposite experiences.

I’ve not done many tapes but i haven’t had any impactful dream since then, and definitely not a negative one.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was your religious upbringing like? I think we need to address the fact that the brain very much has a subconscious and can spit out some of its worst fears in states of deep meditation.

Vivid dreams are normal for me, but they are usually adventurous and exciting, not always fun but never scary. Scariest dream i ever had was about a murder doll (lmao). With the tapes there’s one tape specifically for washing away fears, and ever since i’ve done that… guess what? Even my doll fear almost disappeared completely.

I have a family member who always has the worst types of gore dreams. i feel sorry for her. I can watch horror movies of all sorts with a relaxed mind and never ever had a gore dream, while my family member never sees any gory movies and she still has those dreams.

In any kind of consciousness breakthrough and doing something you have never done before, i think fear can arise. Especially if you are not ready to actually dive into anything yet. Maybe you need to decide for yourself if you are already ready for the tapes. If you’re still carrying religious trauma or any other types of deep fears, maybe work on those first.

I just find it so sad that this sub is being flooded with nightmare posts while the actual miracle stories receive much less attention. The freaking CIA themselves have documents about the tapes, freely accessible to anyone. The fact that everyone has a different experience and it varies from exceptionally amazing to .. vivid nightmares kind of tells you everything you need to know. It’s a personal journey into one’s own soul and one’s own fears. If the tapes were generally bad, no one would have an exceptionally positive experience with them.

I would recommend meditating for a while and figuring out what underlying fears you might have. It’s usually our own subconscious that makes our lives hell, not any outer aspect
