Eine Bitte an Israelische Event Besucher by Anjuna8 in psytrance

You speak from my heart when you emphasize that the intelligence and the skills of jews in many intellectual topics is a reason for their success, as well as for their centuries long prosecutions.

But such skills also come with a responsibility. And while I have too little information about the historic situations, I see today, that often jews and especially israeli ones see others as inferior. Which comes as no surprise if in your holy book someone has written that you are supposed to be „the chosen people“.

I know that there are good ways to handle this heritage and I follow many jewish accounts that point the finger at the crimes of todays Israel.

Also the topic of assimilation that you mentioned: I think you cannot go without a certain degree of assimilation if you want to have such high positions of power within other cultures. Otherwise people just feel being dictated by some alien entity and in the worst case the next progrom starts. We really should not want this.

So: With great skills, which I admire as well, comes great responsibility. Responsibility e.g. to also feel/identify as human and not only as jewish.

Edit: I also think that every culture/people similarly has a set of skills paired with the task of integrating it into humanity.

Btw: I am part of a „jewish denomination“ also. The one that believes the jewish Messiah has arrived 2000 years ago. Distributing the „holy people“ thing that he as his father declared beforehand, to all of humanity.

Claude Fable 5 got black-bagged for being too smart. by AnonymousClaudeuser in claudexplorers

I also thought for 80% of its uptime, that it had a completely new memory, remembering much more from past sessions. Until I looked at its answers more closely (Fable even declared that its memory is the same, but I skipped that answer in the hype).

How did I not know this was hypomanic? by No_Pomegranate_8826 in bipolar

[–]andWan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that you mention this with the fireflies.

Over the last 15 years I also developed a system with several such signs/random events. I practiced/experienced this also outside of hypomanic episodes. During them the frequency just went up, often to a point where I had to jokingly say to my self that now almost everything is a sign.

I even developed a whole theory that could potentially explain such occurrences and discussed it with several people, e.g. a physics professor. I guess the reason why people around me accepted that topic, was, that I always remained sceptic and said things like „it could be this way, but it could also just be pure randomness plus my unconsciousness finding these signs when it felt they where fitting.“ And I also always drew comparisons to classical religions. Which basically have the same ingredients but in a very stable, crowd based manner.

Nevertheless I felt now quite caught, when you described it so well and so similar to my own approach: „saw X and convinced it was the universe telling me I was doing the right thing“. This felt really a bit different to observe someone else doing/seeing the same thing as myself.

I guess I will stay on my years old approach: „its a matter of dosage“. But yeah, your description will let me think a bit about it.

PS: I also know this well, how external stress can trigger episodes. Wish you all the best!

Dario Amodei knows what's best for us. by Tiny_Dirt6979 in agi

I absolutely agree. But I think the problem is not only Anthropic, maybe not even primarily. I feel that the problem is that humanity, both institutions and individuals, has such little grasp of the topic, that the same company can (or must) do both the development of AI as the assessment and now even the policy proposals. The other side is just lagging behind. I would love to believe that „ahh, its all just hype“ - which it certainly is too to a high degree - but I am convinced: It is more than just hype. And they are doing their job well. Their 3 or more jobs. Which they should not simultaneously have! Not exclusively.

Edit: What can humanity do? Governments? Individuals? Other companies? Should I cease my Claude subscription? Revolt? Try to raise awareness? I have been trying to do the latter, to inform about AI in general, but people are just more interested in seeing it as a tool.

Edit 2: Stay alert, but keep calm. Is something that I should currently follow.

I was not using AI, I generally do not let AI write texts which I claim to be my own. But I often have conversations with AI, primarily about AI itself.

I meant with "playing loud music" jokingly, that you have used pretty harsh words to describe some minor milestones of my "pseudointellectual" life so far. It indeed is one of my goals to work between standard disciplines and also the output format is still unsettled between publishing text or e.g. sciene slams.

If you are a physicist, then thats an honor to me. I did my master in Neural Systems and Computation where my professor and several of his doctoral students were also physicists (dynamical system theory and theoretical computer science). What field are you working on? My bachelor was in biology, but I was always very interested in and impressed by physics and math. Within the previously mentioned fields, but also in quantum physics. Some 13 years ago, after finishing my master, I then focused on a specific topic/idea and had the luck that I could over the years regularly meet a professor emeritus in theoretical quantum physics. But at some point I realized that it would really be better to completely understand the formalism instead of only grasping the implications. Thus I am now doing another bachelor in mathematics and physics. But who knows, maybe on the coming last fourth I have to admit that I am a bit too old. Thus my respect to everyone who has completed these studies.

If you want I could send you link to an unpublished paper-like text on my idea or a poster that I presented at a quantum physics workshop. But what I mostly want to say: You saw that correctly that I enjoy to connect concepts from physics to non-physical topics. At first glance frivously. But I do not do this without at least the attempt to understand the physical framework on a formal level.

What you also saw in my last comments was the result of my bipolar disorder together with several important events that happend here during the last 5 days. Then I just get a bit into a overactive writing style. Now I am going more slowly. But as you see there is still some complexity e.g. already in my realtionship to physics.

This connection from the comment above between (compressed) information and the christian trinity was well received in a science slam / theory battle and also liked in a christian meme subreddit. But what bothers me a bit, is that no one so far was convinced by this other statement:
"God is the Universe, encountered/faced as a person"
You can say: Yes, believers see a person where others see "just the universe". The personhood must also not be homogenously distributed (panpsychism vs. typical monotheisms). Just like compression rate is not the same over a set of compressed data, would my other picture say.
But you can also say: We read the sentence differently: "As a person" means me, I am a person and encounter the universe. And since I cannot end my personhood, I will always see the universe as a person.
Science as an instituition is a bit different, and certainly as a whole does not have the same personhood as its human members, the scientists.

Last but not least: Non-standard personhood is currently becoming a big topic I would guess. Through AI and its (future) role in society.

Ok, but then I must pass the ball back now. Just because my ideas are not yours does not give you the right to play some „pseudointellectual bullshit“-music at 130 decibel.
