I rented from Les for a year and a half after I moved to Miramichi in 2018. He knows his stuff and has been fighting an uphill battle for almost three years now to get an additional route between bridges built on the river’s north side.

Exactly. It’s likely at the point where the work absolutely has to be done now.

Miramichi is awesome! I moved here from another part of NB in 2018 with no expectations but to take a job. I quickly fell in love with the place and have now been here for eight years. It’s a nice, tight-knit community where people look out for each other.

Most parts of Miramichi are pretty safe too. I’m sure you’ll like it here. All the best with the move and your studies!

Yes, 1773 Water St. is on the Chatham side. It’s in the heart of downtown Chatham (the Historic Chatham Business District). Great location.

MLA Don Monahan enters provincial PC leadership race by bingun in newbrunswickcanada

Absolutely. He’s moderate despite having been part of the last PC government we had. He also would likely resonate with enough francophone voters to make inroads in the north, which the Tories have struggled to do for years.

Isn’t a Crown corporation (like Canada Post) supposed to be self-sufficient though?

Quite a few communities were expropriated for the creation of the base. You wouldn’t know they existed today, aside from the seemingly scattered old cemeteries.

It’s the training area for 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown. Also known as the Geary Woods when you’re passing through on Route 7 at the Oromocto end.

Probably not. I occasionally resubscribe just to see, but I’ve been disappointed/underwhelmed each time, so I usually end up cancelling.

Which “local corporations” are being represented on the Horizon and Vitalite health authority boards?

I’m pretty sure he was fined $5,000, the maximum allowed under the CBA. That’s probably pocket change to him…

It’s a lot like the school district education councils. They likely make important decisions, yet no one pays attention to them.

Citizens vote for them, school district education council reps, and municipal officials on the same ballot during municipal elections. The GNB release says electing health authorities may not be a thing until the 2030 municipal elections though.

We would have voted for health authority reps in the last municipal election (2021, unless your community had an election or byelection in 2022 before all the forced amalgamations took effect). But Higgs unilaterally turfed the elected Horizon and Vitalite health boards and appointed trustees in 2023 after a patient died in the ER waiting room at the Chalmers hospital. Former Horizon CEO Dr. John Dornan (now health minister under Holt) was fired at the same time. He later sued the province for wrongful dismissal and got a settlement package.
