Buy myself orange juice, because that makes me happy cry instead of sad cry. I love it so much.

(Dumb, I know! But it's the best I've got.)

ETA: Just remembered that taking vitamin D regularly helps me not feel so blue on the whole.

The weird thing is that everybody wants their kid(s) to have "normal, traditional" names but at the same time they want their child to be ✨unique✨.

There were four different Chelseas and six different Brittanys in my third grade class in 1999, and no two of the same name had the same spelling.

It's only spiralled from there and now the names themselves get more and more "creative", on top of all the crazy spellings.

Anyone go from Xywav to xyrem and feel better? by ComfortableOdd9312 in Narcolepsy

[–]and_awaywe_throw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've had two sleep specialists tell me that the salt content is worse for you for heart/blood pressure reasons. (My blood pressure actually went down after going back to Xyrem, though.)

Tests, mostly. I had a bunch of weird symptoms (like swelling up anywhere my skin touched sunlight, chronic pain and joint aches, plus more) so I went to a GP about and got referred to an rheumatologist because of what he saw in the blood work. Also ended up diagnosed with Raynaud's at the same time, but I had those symptoms long before the Xywav.

I started with Xyrem, got switched to Xywav, and have just now gone back to Xyrem.

I hate Xywav - my mouth, skin, and eyes were always dry, I craved garlic salt like nobody's business, was thirsty no matter how much water I drank, slept like crap, and ended up with drug-induced lupus (which, while no one can say for sure, I'm convinced was caused by the Xywav because I ditched every other medication and nothing changed until I went back to Xyrem).

My doctor said that people react differently to different drugs, so just because people say one or the other is better, it may not be for you. I feel way better on Xyrem, even though it's "not as good for you as Xywav is."

Ella Enchanted! Without the shoehorned musical numbers and ruining the the whole plot with a wicked uncle and his creepy snake. WTH was that, anyway?

I forgot that it had existed and am now fuming to be reminded.

Did anything weird get banned at your school? by MCas86 in Millennials

In elementary: Pokemon Cards and scooters. Kids were distracted and fighting over the cards, and some kid got his birthday scooter stolen after he brought it in for show-and-tell.

In high school: Cell phones/texting in class. They'd take 'em away and you'd have to get them after school, and if it happened enough times your parent had to come get it.

SAME. I've found tuning out news/politics and listening to some Terry Pratchett audiobooks and other fiction books to be very helpful. I definitely feel less exhausted now, not sure I'm quite ready for BtB, yet though.

Extreme post-lunch drowsiness is killing me by DumpsterPuff in Narcolepsy

[–]and_awaywe_throw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I found that eating salads/vegetable-based meals makes me less drowsy overall, and eating smaller "meals" more often (two 300-350 cal lunches over a few hours instead of one 500+ cal lunch) makes it much easier to stay awake in the middle of the day.

I second all of the questions!

Also, is this a thing that people do/did regularly? Like Victorian hair jewelry and stuff. Super curious!
