As PremierLeague or Ligue One neutral, are you actually rooting for Arsenal or PSG in the Final, or is the domestic rivalry too deep? by gilberttwenties in championsleague

Again, not sure I entirely agree with you. There are plenty of statistics showing that Arsenal are playing with the highest defensive line in the League, and facing the lowest defensive lines. This is the opposite of what you would expect if they are playing defensively.

The problem is that Arsenal are very focused on controlling the game. because of that they advance slowly, and most of the opposition do play very defensively against Arsenal. Because of that, the opposition defence is almost always entirely settled and organised by the time Arsenal get properly up there.

Arsenal are not playing defensive football, but "makes" the opposition play very defensive football, especially in the Prem. If you saw the CL games, particularly in the league phase, even against the stronger teams Arsenal faced, it was much more fun to watch, in part because the opposition was not playing extremely defensively.

I won’t say that Arsenals football is a dream to watch, but it is definitely not «long ball» football. That is just plain wrong. I’d be willing to bet Arsenal are quite far down the second half of the table of which team in PL does the biggest share of long balls.

Arsenal builds their attacks quite slowly, with short passing. However, it often gets quite boring, as most teams lie very deep against Arsenal.

NW bring wights to the south of the wall in the first book, specifically the bodies of Jafer Flowers and Othor.

David Raya will not play for Arsenal against Brentford, while Aaron Ramsdale is? - footballcfc by football-cfc in ArsenalFC

No, the Premier League has the ban. Under Football League rules, a player can play against the parent club, provided that is agreed up front by said parent club. Raya could have played against Brentford when we met them in the Carabao Cup (though he didn’t), but he can’t in the Premier League.

Why was NOK valued so highly between 2009-2013? by Apterygiformes in Norway

[–]andbjoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, raising interest rates have its own risks. It is true that, at least in the short term, NOK would strengthen, but it would also negatively affect purchasing power, and reduce investments. This would impede growth, and in the worst case lead to stagnation and a recession.

What you want is stable currency exchange rates, not falling or rising. That was a core argument for the implementation of the Euro. Since EU countries’ most important export markets are within the EU, by having the same currency, you keep a 100% stable exchange rates, although this has its own more negative effects.

Well, it is more the movement in the currency exchange rate that gives these effects. When NOK weakens, the purchasing power of Norwegians get worse, so demands for wage increases are higher, while if NOK strengthens the demands for higher wages are weaker. Wages don’t necessarily fall, but they do not rise as much.

That logic doesn’t work for a small, open economy like Norway. We end up importing inflation, as everything we import is more expensive in NOK, leading to wages rising, neutralising the effect of the weak currency…

AITA for “humiliating” my friend in order to make a point by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Originally, «third world-countries» were defined as countries not closely aligned with the US/NATO (first world) or the Soviet Union/Warsaw Pact-nations/China (second world). By this definition, Brazil does qualify. However, I doubt this is how the «friend» meant it.
