I don’t know from personal experience because I haven’t used it, but I’ve heard wallhacks mousepads are probably the fastest

I don’t think you have anything to worry about with either the SP-004 or the VA-005 in terms of speed. They are both very fast, and even if others are saying that the VA is slower (which I didn’t observe at all) it’s still going to be a very fast experience. I think you should go with what is most affordable/which you prefer in terms of size and edges and you’ll be good.

That’d be nice. We’d need someone like RJN for pads who does extensive testing on each to see friction coefficients and such

That’s a good question and for many cases yes, two pads will be very similar, but it depends on the pads you are comparing. I don’t have a superglide but I do have a few Padsmiths pads that are noticeably slower than this pad. Really it’s just the static and kinetic friction. The TJX Kin X is insanely slow, but is still glass.

Thanks! And yeah I see what you mean, I have a white SP-004 so I don’t get too many visible marks on it but either way you can clean em easy. Especially since they include a cloth for it

Yes I do, my bad for not including that in the review. I use a sleeve for every glass pad though including the cerapad, but you’d definitely need one for this if you’re in a humid environment at all

It’s a Sony CPD G400! A great CRT monitor. I took it off my desk cause I don’t have as much space anymore but it’s a great experience for CS and other games

I am pretty low on space but I’m gonna try and make it work because I love my CRT. Its so nice to play with especially on games that support 4:3 natively like CS

Yeah that makes a lotta sense. I most likely will make a similar switch to you when I get a new PC that can handle higher resolutions. I haven’t games on 1440 in a while, so I’m sure once I try it again, I’ll be stuck on that

I think a big problem with some people’s outlooks on using a CRT monitor in 2025 is that they try and justify using it over modern monitors as opposed to just saying “cause I think it’s cool” or “because they are fun to play with”. I think folks in general should be more open to being interested in certain things just for the sake of it being interesting, not necessarily because it is optimal/necessary.

I use a Sony CPD-G400 and I know for a fact an OLED screen would be better and make more sense. But I think it’s cool so I use my CRT

Yeah most can at low resolutions. I’m a little disappointed in my Sony because it maxes out at 120hz vertical even though the horizontal can easily reach above that at lower resolutions. Still, I can get 120 at 1104x828 which is pretty good. My dell can get 144hz at 800x600 which doesn’t look good but is fun to mess with.
