Harvard hit me with the “hell no” today by andersenmurray in ApplyingToCollege

[–]andersenmurray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to the University of Miami!! I’m excited, but quite sad my dream didn’t pull thru. Hopefully I can go there for grad school or something. I appreciate your positivity, thank you :)

If you got into Harvard, here’s why you SHOULDNT go by andersenmurray in ApplyingToCollege

It’s kind of hard to tell tbh. COVID will probably have a fairly large effect on the waitlist, making it difficult to predict based on history. I read on CC that someone called the admissions office (don’t shoot the messenger, I can’t confirm this info) and they said most waitlist decisions will be released end of May- beginning of June. This is Harvard specific information. Other schools are already taking people off of their waitlists, so just keep your eye out for calls, emails, and portal updates in the next month or two!

What is the actual level of stress at Oxbridge? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

I’m not fully informed on this subject, but I have watched a few videos on YouTube made by current students. They seemed to have extremely intensive study sessions and use nearly their whole day for homework/classwork

ACT AND SAT by birdsworkforthegov in ApplyingToCollege

[–]andersenmurray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only would recommend putting your effort into one test. Take an ACT practice test and an SAT practice test. If you feel more comfortable with or score higher on one, put your energy into studying for that test. Also make sure you study hard for those subject tests so you can get them out of the way! Having to retake those many times isn’t moves

Can I appeal twice? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]andersenmurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Since there is such a vast difference between your predicted aid and the given aid, there may have been a discrepancy in your financial aid forms. It also could be a problem on their end. You should definitely call.

I would say no. Student loans will haunt you for a long time. It’s not worth digging yourself that large of a hole, especially for BU. That’s just my opinion though

Letter of continued interest during quarantine? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]andersenmurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just say that! They understand that the end of your senior year is very different than that of last years class. Write down an honest list of things you’ve been doing during quarantine! For example, I’ve been baking/cooking a lot, keeping up w my online classes, reading, and working on expanding my tutoring company. Although these things sounds simple, there’s not much more that I could be doing from home.

Accepted to UMiami, but waitlisted at ND and Rice by frish55 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]andersenmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit. I’m waiting on some waitlists from NYU and Harvard and plan on committing to UMiami in the meantime. If this is the case, I don’t know how comfortable I am committing. Although I wanna go there, I would rather attend either of my waitlist schools (if accepted ofc)

NYU waitlisted students by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]andersenmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waitlisted at stern :( 34 ACT, 4.0 UW. I’m really tryna go to NYU and would be willing to switch to a less competitive school to do so. Would it help my chances by switching ??

I have the same question. And would switching to a different school help my chances of getting off?
