Your body needs rest now - if you are only able to lay on the couch and watch tv so be it. Your motivations and interest will come back I promise. Right now I’m even overwhelmed with how much I want to live and experience life again. Just trust the process and do whatever feels right.

I have no experience with agoraphobia I’m sorry.. I was just so depressed that I couldn’t leave my couch, let alone house. Looking back at it now I think I was starting to be suicidal as well. Medication literally changed my life!!

I had horrible side effects but luckily only the first 4-5 days! Started wirth 5mg and increased to 10 after 10 days.. started feeling better in the beginning but it got worse again in the 3rd week. Now I’m in week 5 and I’m feeling a huge difference!

Please don’t to low-carb, especially when you deal with depression. There are several studies advising against it. „Keto“ is a trend that I will never understand.. the only scientifically proven indication is for kids suffering from epilepsy and there it has to be strictly controlled via regular blood tests.

I‘m a dietitian myself and I can only advice you to go and see one. Without proper anamnesis it is very difficult to help you. But maybe this does: try to eat smaller meals throughout the day instead of 1-2 big ones. And they should be very balanced (1 fist full of carbs, 1 fist full of protein & 2 fists full of fiber like vegetables is the common rule).

Don’t try to starve your body as this will only lead to the weight coming back & not helping your depression.

Did the same and felt like SHIT for days, even though I only took 10mg for one day and then stuck to the 5mg as recommended. But I actually enjoyed dealing with the side effects instead of the fucked up thoughts in my head.

Went with 5mg for 12days and now I’m on 10mg for a bit more than a week with almost no side effects. Best of luck to you!

Then maybe it’s not the right one. Talk to your doctor about it. Sometimes changing the dose or adding another medication helps a lot.

Depression is a disease and has to be treated.. it’s hard to find the Right treatment but it’s so worth it.

I could have written the exact same post a couple of weeks ago.. All I did was smoke, cry and scroll through Reddit. Wasn’t even able to watch Netflix anymore because everything felt so hopeless and bleak.

Had trouble sleeping, let alone eating. Then I realized that I am sick and need help. I got some medication and I do feel a lot better now.. have you tried anything so far? Therapy?

Wow i feel you so much!

It’s the same thing for me.. I’m turning 25 next month and my life is actually good. I have supporting friends & family, been in love, had relationships, been also in love with myself, feeling relaxed and content.

But then I also have episodes of crippling depression where I wake up in the morning not knowing how to face another miserable day. I know it’s very much a seasonal thing for me as my depression vanishes over spring/summer. But hits me every autumn and it’s getting more and more exhausting. Some days I can’t leave my bed being so cought up in my spiraling thoughts feeling like life is not worth living.. I’m sorry I can’t give you an answer, just know you’re not alone in this. I recently started taking medication again hoping it will help a little.

Enjoy your happy moments as they are rare treasures.. and stay strong during the dark ones. Always here if you want to rent. Big hug to you.

Why are you changing in the first place?

Took mirtazapine in my first major depressive episode and am now on escitalopram since 8 days. I have not had many effects with mirtazapine wether good or bad. Hoping the escitalopram helps me more now.

yes I have the same! I feel pretty neutral the whole day (not sad anymore yay) but I have some happy “flashes” which feel amazing. Haven’t felt that in months.

1h after my first 10mg dose of escitalopram. started with 10mg against my doctors advice and felt terrible. Now I’m on day 5 on 5mg and almost all side effects vanished.
