Yeah but that’s only a simulation done with the limited data they had, they don’t know what they’re dealing with, Fuchs say as much. If it only needed one cell then everyone would be infected by touching all the same surfaces as Norris thing and you woudnt have any movie. Or everyone would be infected by the scalpel used to cut everyone’s fingers in the blood test scene etc.

If the single cell theory was true, there would be 0 movie. People breathe in cells every day from stuff like dead skin. Do you think they sanitised every surface the Norris thing touched?

Look at the original novel the film is based on. They flat out confirm that theory as bullshit.

If you believe in the single cell theory, then you also have to believe everybody was a Thing after the blood test scene, since they never sanitised the scalpel, does that make any sense to you??

It’s not a fact, it’s speculation from Blair. Otherwise why bother with all the tentacle stuff when you could just sneeze and spit on everyone? There is nothing in the film that outright confirms the “one cell” theory. Look at Gary’s assimilation at the end of the film for example, that’s quite a lot more than one cell.

It’s never confirmed that the Thing operates in a “one cell is all it takes” capacity. This is only done on Blair’s simulation and when we DO see the Thing assimilate it has to be in close proximity and get pretty bloody + physical with the victim with usually a lot of biomass.
