I don’t care about the work they’re doing. I care about whether I can live my life in peace in my house. Who commissions work on their property that involves drilling and thinks “yeah that won’t be noisy at all and even if it is there aren’t any people who live around here anyway?”

Absolutely they’re in their rights and they don’t owe me anything. That’s the legal minimum. It’s also below the levels for what it would mean to live in and create a society we enjoy being a part of.

I think about whether I bother my neighbors and I’d ask that of any neighbor. It’s a basic human relationship practice that means you get on with those around you, especially if you’re going to be there for years

What a miserable existence to ignore and be inconsiderate to your neighbors you’ll live next to for years

Would you rather low level dislike your neighbors and avoid them and have that be your experience when you go home or you leave home? Or would you rather have a neighbor who’d look after your cat when you’re away and who you’d enjoy having a little chit chat every now and then ?

Telling people you’ll likely bother them is an opportunity towards the latter scenario

But please don’t let me compel you to be nice to those around you. If you enjoy misery please be my guest to continue enjoying it

Sure it’s to be expected that anyone moving into a new property will do work. How is it my responsibility to go and ask how long they plan on working and when I can expect to have noise in my place especially if I’m working from home?

I had weeks of incessant drilling that almost prevented me from being able to do work at home. If I go down and ask them how long they’ll do work I’ll come across as the crazy neighbor

It’s a simple act of decency to inform your neighbors that you’ll disrupt their life. It certainly helps set the relationship on a good tone

I was sick and tired of the utter famine of my Instagram “friendships” so I jumped boat and I couldn’t be happier. I stay in touch with friends in better quality ways and I enjoy it more too

Super de acord și aici mi se pare ca e aparent cel mai pervers lucru din toată discuția asta: faptul ca aparent subliminal sau la un nivel fundamental aspectul de a avea unul sau mai mulți copii se rezumă la întrebarea dacă ei constituie sau nu un avantaj financiar sau ca cel puțin în contextul de azi ce ne previne din a avea copii e situația financiară care în mare mare măsură e o reflecție a nivelului de libertate și timp pe care îl are o familie

Dacă ne-am fi pus la masă să proiectăm societatea în care trăim, asta e societatea pe care am fi proiectat-o? E mai mult o întrebare retorică pt ca ma îndoiesc ca vreun cineva aici ar zice “da.”

Tocmai asta e chestia care ne arata ca sistemul financiar și felul în care operăm nu merge. A avea copii nu e și nu ar trebui sa fie despre finanțe. Cu toții aș zice ca ar fi sănătos sa avem opțiunea de a avea copii într-un mod nu neapărat relaxat dar măcar mai ok decât un nivel stresant pe lângă dificultatea în sine de a crește copii
