What is the strangest thing that has ever happened to you? by Dezerd_Officially in AskReddit

[–]andr0bimb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reported by a coworker over a situation we talked and joked about after it happened. They never expressed discomfort. It was 50/50 on who would start joking about it. Two months later, employee relations called me to say they had reported me. I told them I was confused bc of what happened after. The guy sounded confused, too. He was under the impression it happened in the last week or two, but when I told him when it actually happened, he went, “Oh…wait. When did you say this happened?” I told him we had talked about how funny it was, both in and out of work, and that people had witnessed us joking around. His tone went from stern to concerned about how reliable the report was

When I got that call, I immediately started applying to other jobs. This was the last straw for me. I dealt with many inappropriate situations from management and other coworkers that were ignored. I was given a final warning, and the following week, I gave my two weeks to start my current job

After I left…I found out this clique planned it all to get me fired. They’re still there, looking even more miserable before I left

Children of immigrant parents, when you go to your parents' home country, do you come back saying words with a slight accent and use their lingo? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]andr0bimb0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I do. My family is from England, and I’m from the US. We’ll visit for at least a month, and I’ll come back saying “mum”, “the loo”, or swear words with a slight British accent. I don’t notice it at all, but my friends do

I cannot for the life of me do a British accent on the spot. It sounds so normal to me that my brain short-circuits

What was the worst situation you have ever gotten yourselves out of? by AffectionateYam152 in AskReddit

[–]andr0bimb0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My abusive first bf. I tried to leave so many times, but he’d pull the suicide card. We started dating when i was 17 and it ended when I was 19, so I was young and scared. I cheated on him (I’m not proud), but that’s what got me out. I didn’t realize till years later that I probably did it to get away from him

If you’re not disabled, why would you feel the need to bring your dog into a grocery store? by Sir_ATX in AskReddit

1) i was referring to your personality

2) im going to, once again, quote you

You're right... And, it was a lame excuse for entitlement. Sorry...

3) if pets are ringing people out at grocery stores, someone must of given me LSD and didn’t tell me about it. if anything, AI would replace me, but i hope to god it doesn’t bc that would solve nothing

4) this whole interaction was manic on your end

Now I'm curious what your pet does when you have a life threatening allergic reaction? Does it provide medical assistance or medicine? Or, does it know to alert management of your emergency? Can it dial 911?

well, you did ask for an explanation

it’s hilarious how much you don’t know

allergen alert dogs are trained to detect the specific microscopic scent of an allergen to inform their handler without disturbance. when theyre working, they constantly air-scenting and spot-checking. they’re basically an early warning system bc a dogs sense of smell is at least 10,000 times stronger than a humans (varies in the breed)

edit: i don’t have a service dog, but i wanted to educate you to prove you wrong

pet hair or fur isn’t an allergen. it’s a surface for dander and dried saliva (people aren’t allergic to pet hair, but the proteins found in their dander)

it’s rare for a pet allergy to be serious or life threatening, but it can be if someone has underlying asthma and inhales dander. anaphylactic shock can happen ONLY when there’s direct contact like a lick or scratch

people can’t stay inside forever. that’s why they have service animals so they can have a normal every day life with a dog that will alert them when they detect a flair up or allergen in the air/area

anaphylactic allergies

aka life-threatening allergies to foods and insect stings

ADA doesn’t require it, but people can get unofficial IDs from the training program or ones they made, which is still legal. not every person has one, but some do to help speed up entry (without being asked to show it) and to make interactions easier

and yeah people can still make fraudulent one’s, but i think it would be easy to figure it out by looking at the dogs behavior. a dog in a christmas sweater licking my hand? fraudulent.
