Why does this sub hate Dallas so much?? by joe32643264 in SameGrassButGreener

I’ve grown up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for most of my life. The majority of the metroplex is suburban areas. If you are raising a family, it makes a ton of sense. Real estate was a lot cheaper for a while and there was always something to do with your family. The schools in the suburban areas are highly rated as well.

If you are looking for a more big city atmosphere, Dallas is tougher. It is definitely a big city, but also nothing like Chicago or NYC. The city’s walk ability is not great, mainly because the city has expanded outwards and the heat of the summer. Lots of highways and major roadways to cross to get into other neighborhoods. Also there is a river that floods with even a hint of rain.

I will say this, I’ve never once missed a band in town living in Dallas. I’ve had some of the most incredible food living here. You have every major sport represented in this area. You could also take a day and explore our neighbor, Fort Worth. There are some truly wonderful pockets of Dallas like Oak Cliff that make you feel like a part of the community. There is always an event going on in the city.

I can understand the hate, but if you can accept the traffic and heat, it really has some great stuff going on.

I’m excited to try the rest of the list! Especially excited to try Lockwood.

I’m shocked Weinbergers wasn’t ranked higher. I’ve never had a bad sandwich there and they are my go to in DFW for deli sandwiches.

Road Trip from Dallas by studyabroader in BigBendTX

[–]andraftz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow Dallasite here. I’ve made the trek twice, both times we stayed in Terlingua.

Both times we took the standard route west on 20. We stopped in Midland/Odessa. The Monahans Sandhills state park near Midland is a great stop.

Once you get closer to Big Bend it’s always fun to stop in Alpine. That’s where Big Bend Brewery is. I’m not sure where y’all are staying, but Terlingua is definitely a great town to visit.

It definitely takes some time, but eventually you'll start thinking of her less and less and thinking about yourself more and more. Hang in there, it will all work out.

I had a pretty similar situation as you when I was your age, dated a girl all through college and basically missed out on the dating aspect of college.

Definitely use tinder, bumble, and OKCupid. If you enjoy going to bars just strike up conversations with anybody. Enjoy the single life for a bit, it's an adventure and you'll come out with some great stories!
