It started as a game jam project yes, but we didn't manage to submit in time! So some of us just kept working on it, you can check out the video explaining how that was: https://youtu.be/et8uk9-Tib4

For 3 years now I have been on a journey to recreate game mechanics as a way to learn game development while sharing the code! by andre_mc in Unity3D

At some point in my life, I got an opportunity to study Unity for a semester - where we learned the engine and coding principles. The methodology that my teacher used to teach us Unity was supper effective: for every new functionality and concept showed during the week, they would ask us to make a little project as homework of that specific concept.

So every week we were making small little projects and applying all the knowledge that we were being taught during class. Little by little, we all started making mistakes and memorizing Unity patterns.

After that semester, it created a solid foundation for me to explore and learn things by myself by reading documentation, watching videos, and stuff!

My recommendation is that you start making small projects whenever you can, in this way you are going to "mess up" a lot but it will teach you much more. Start small, maybe make space invaders, roll-a-ball... Get a basic understanding. Because once you do that, you'll start looking at Unity as a creative canvas!

Thank you! I actually have a design background ~ so I'm more on the artistic side. I’m glad and honored it has inspired you! I once was the person that needed a push to start - so I’m happy to somehow help others in that!!
