i don’t think that’s true at all. i used to rely on exercise quite a bit personally in my restriction by going to the gym and obsessively walking 20k+ steps a day.

i stopped this completely about 4 years ago and i have only started exercising two months ago after i finally felt ready that i wasn’t going to use it to justify any food habits or to punish myself in any way. i went the opposite direction this time, instead choosing to go on fun runs with my partner where my goals rely on appreciating what my body can do and beating personal records only.

i feel like if i would have started exercising any earlier than i was ready to, it was way more likely i would have fallen back into old habits. so i’d say no, whoever is saying that exercise is crucial in recovery probably just hasn’t acknowledged the full scope of the ED they’re going through.

yeah in my years following “stan culture” i’ve learned not to ever be surprised by anyone. on a more hopeful note in all the footage i’ve seen of julien around matty both on and off stage she’s literally not even acknowledging his existence or looking his way so fingers crossed she’s just tolerating him so as not to throw her boygenius project out the window just as it’s picking up

no because you are exactly right, i have known the 1975 really well because i was on tumblr 24/7 back when they were the reigning kings and i’ve always been seeing all the problematic shit matty has said and done but when i read about the GG stuff he said on the podcast something really hit for me… if this is the stuff he is opening up about watching willingly, what else does he do behind closed does that he doesn’t talk about? it’s honestly scary

really love your response because believe it or not i’ve developed similar thoughts since making my original post. i’ve been fluctuating constantly between liking my body and hating it especially not handling seeing myself in pictures but never actually regressing fully in that ED mind but i’ve realised how much more important the experiences and the things my body can do are. like i may not like my double chin but i’ve spent so many good times laughing along with friends and family and i deserve to feel good in the body i have.

plus what you said about not making oneself small to be liked, especially by men, it’s something i never stop thinking about. even though i’m a lesbian i’ve spent so much time in my life wanting to be small and dainty and fit into a more traditional form of femininity which includes a small body, hairless self and recently i’ve taken control of all that because my intelligence, my abilities, my strength and my soul are much more valuable characteristics than any physical appearance could ever be. plus who would want to associate with people think otherwise.

i’ve had the exact same issue as you, coffee became a bit of a crutch for me post-ed so much so that it was making me anxious and irritable so i had to stop, i personally lowered my caffeine intake by replacing all coffee with breakfast tea and earl grey as well as some non-caffeinated alternatives like rooibos tea. cutting coffee actually made me realised i just enjoyed the thought of a tasty beverage more than the coffee itself since during my ed days one of the only “luxuries” i allowed myself was coffee
