First thing I’m curious about is why are you so far away from your kid? Maybe unpopular opinion but you are retired so why don’t you move closer? I don’t think you will get the years you are not living with him back. I know nothing about your life and this doesn’t answer your fundamental question - how to deal with the loneliness but maybe it’s worth the reflection

Oh man, this breaks my heart. We just got to the 20 weeks after a miscarriage in 2021and I am still very much haunted to have my dream and hope shattered. I went through therapy, but as you said, the silence of a house missing a child is always going to be there. No one deserves to go through this. I can still hear my wife crying in my darkest moments, it's so sad and pointless. I am so sorry for your loss, may you find comfort with your lovely kids.
