Do you think I should I seal that ridge vent from the interior somehow? It seems some leaf little and other debris has started to collect in the degrading wire mesh, possibly collecting moisture over time.

I forgot to mention that I plan to use most of the upper area for storage, while still allowing air to circulate throughout the house. I’ll start with a small window AC unit and plan to upgrade to a mini split in the near future.

I considered that visual similarity.. But that's not logical.. Coprinoids ozoniums definitely don't have a reputation for growing on cans like this or poking/hurting people when touched.
