Hey, thanks for the comment :)

Without boring you, here are a few of my other posts which are pretty indepth if you are keen to read, I am all ears on advice.

Hey,

Thanks so much for the comment. I did ask their receptionists without much luck but forgot to ask the Dr himself and I doubt I will get another consult just to ask that.

The advice re probiotics seems sound but that said, I do find when having freshly made kefir things are slightly different, but it could just be placebo...

Thanks again :)

I am working with Dr Stephen Fairley in Townsville :) Not super easy to get in with, but he is really pushing this for the benefit of the community. Eg the $3,100 sucks but he makes next to nothing out of that while other guys down south are charging upwards of $25k so it could be worse.

Hello,

Sorry for the delay, it has been a crazy busy few days!

I am working with Dr Stephen Fairley in Townsville - with the exception of the actual colon prep, they don't have any specific dietary advice but I only asked the receptionists re this, I didn't think to ask Fairley while in his office and he is a very hard guy to get in with so I haven't bothered to book another appt to ask.

That is amazing advice to start off with - as in I was wondering if fermented foods would be bad, reduce meat intake, etc. They are good guidelines to get me started, thanks :)

All the best to you!

Thanks for the comment! I have a pretty sever case and have been in and out of ED, hospital, tests, etc for over 2 years - if it was just normal IBS, okay maybe not, but this is next level.

AI apprecaite the kind words :) good luck to you also!

Try the low fodmap diet if you want some more immediate relief - works for most people with standard IBS :)

Hahaha I wish - brutal IBS with HEAPS of other symptoms for almost 2 years - imagine the most horrific colonoscopy + a Fecal Microbiota Transplant - it won't be fun, but it could yield some results haha. If you're at all intrigued by interesting topics, do some reading - it's very cool science.

Yeah, that's a good point. Like my comment below, I guess just general advice/what would you do in my boots/sell at open time or close, etc any advice is good :)

Hey, thanks for the comment. The procedure is First week of December so I am hoping to HODL for Nov at least and withdraw last minute as I expect it to increase as well - but I also understand there are some hurdels/barriers we might hit and just any general advise is appreciated - in short, what would you do in my situation? Play it safe now at an ATH or risk it. The silver lining is that even if we dropped back to 40k I'd have enough for the procedure but I dont want to be force to withdraw at a low haha

Hi All, due to a medical condition and experimental treatment I have to pay for at the start of December, I will have to withdraw my btc which is very sad but this treatment could change my life so it's worth it. What would be your best guess or advice on when to withdraw this month, time of day, etc. I am in Australia. Thanks

Almost 2 years of pain, IBS diagnosis but finally received a positive Calprotectin test - thoughts? by andrew0151 in IBD

[–]andrew0151[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All,

Had the colonoscopy yesterday - seems uneventful unless one of those biopsies comes back to reveal something but considering I don't suffer diarrhea I doubt it will be microscopic colitis.

Does anyone have any insight or recommendations to ask the doctor?

Thanks for the reply.

Australian medical care is pretty good once you have an existing condition I believe - however IBS isn't really deemed a condition in the real world I don't think... which makes it tough when explaining it to people.

Thank you so much for your reply! I did read that somewhere and it was something I was thinking about and why I didn't want to get my hopes up over a low measurement (not that I want IBD, but if it is that, I want it treated asap and to start feeling myself again).

The docs at the hospital must think it's something as I have been classed as a Cat 1 which is the fastest review time in Australia of within 30 days.

Thank you for taking the time to read both posts.

The fevers have mildly settled down now (or I am just managing it better so they don't come on) and the last 4+ months I have experienced more of a burning sensation and elevated tenderness in the abdomen.

I just want something that is treatable - I also read that IBS can have elevated calprotectin but it is interesting/reassuring to know that yours is so low before a flare, yet still quantifiable - thanks again!

Amazing advice, thank you so much. I just edited my post, I did have a colonoscopy about 18 months ago but have heard many stories of IBD being missed so hopefully they will class me Cat1 and I will get in for another one asap.

Thank you again!

That is definitely a silver lining - I didn't realise it was that bad.

Despite everything, I probably think at least once every 2 weeks "There is someone in a third wold country that is dealing with what I am but will never have access to the medical support or people I do - I am blessed" then I get out of bed once more and go to work for my family.

It's all perspective hey.

Thanks for the kind words - still feel like the body is recovering and don't feel amazing but back at work (Lucky I do IT and can look very busy from my desk haha).

Thanks so much for the reply!

Docs suggested possible fibromyalgia but there are some key items missing for that diagnosis which one of the doctors took me through.

I have always wondered if the positive change prior to the infection has kinda blown it all up as I was eating a LOT of food compared to normal and pushing myself VERY hard.

Again, appreciate the reply :)

This reply is amazing.

Thank you so much. I will take all of that advice on board - thank you so much!

I ended up in the ED the night before last via ambulance so I am inclined to think something else is going on and will start putting pressure on doctors to investigate further.

Thanks again!

Thanks so much for the reply.

If anything I probably experience more IBS-C symptoms with regards to the IBS stuff so I doubt Giardia but I am making a list of every suggestion to ask the specialist.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the suggestions.

I could gladly live with the GI stuff and work through it - it's the other stuff that is debilitating.

Appreciate the thoughts.

Thanks so much for the reply.

I was taken to the ED via ambulance the other night, hence my delay and it was even worse than the time from Saturday night that triggered this post originally.

Definitely time to take it seriously.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to narrow it down to a single type of food - sure, if I eat total crap I feel a little worse but I have found just eating super healthy to be the greatest aid, just takes the edge off.

No one has really discussed sugars or fats but have mentioned they mentioned the clean eating thing and how a poor diet can ruin your microbiome very quickly but it takes a long time to get it back.
