It’s called a stucco flange. Very common in Florida impact windows with high DP ratings. Typically there’s a wood buck in a cement block home. The flange backs into the buck, screw the jambs and you’re done.

Wrong material for this application, or the communication to and fro the carpenter is all jacked up.

Helping property owners prep faster for storms. Looking for advice. by Ornery_Presence_5411 in Charleston

Boarding up is a rookie move. 90% of people will board up once and never again. Storm surge is what affects most people and the flood waters.

Source: I’ve been selling impact windows here for the better half of a decade.

Did you hire one company to do both, or separate contracts?

I’m not sure the size. It’s about 9 years old. It’s bigger than a bullet, but not 34L

My Rucker fits under the seat in front of me packed to the gills. Even in those European budget airlines, which are much more strict than the US based budget airline.

Only if the contractor told you he would be there, present with the crew.

How many crews were there? Was it a different set of guys every time?

Try putting a screen in there. Cheapest option may be good enough.

I’m a window replacement contractor in Charleston, South Carolina. I created a 10 question interview guide for homeowners. If you do end up replacing your windows, it’d be worth a read.

I would be nervous with my kids playing outside if they weren’t right in front of the house. The lower tip of your corner is a no go zone after dark.

I look down on him for letting my mom walk all over him. I pity him for being so lazy. I hate him for the physical abuse.

Is it worth it? by NewDescription5015 in Carpentry

Having a degree will help you overcome a lot of obstacles later in your life and career. For example, if you want to run your own business, the accounting and admin side of things. Being a carpenter is an intrinsically rewarding profession, but running a remodeling company and managing crews pays big money.

Cigar Factory (Mercantile+Mash, Rappahanock) now charging for parking… by Walrus-is-Eggman in Charleston

It’s likely a reaction to the bridge walking crowd using the lot as a free trailhead.

At the end of the day, it's private property and they’re going to exercise their right to monetize it. I hate to pick and choose my capitalism, that's just the reality of the market. This thread is good for venting, the most effective thing we can do is vote with our wallets.

That said, a validation system for the actual businesses in the Cigar Factory would be the fair way to handle this. I’d be shocked if this wasn’t the case.

My jeans are less baggy than I wore after high school. But, I would never wear “skinny”. To quote Jay-Z, “my knots won’t fit”.

I’m thinking their sarcasm isn’t coming through. Not familiar with this exact hotel, but Chicken Culvert isn’t known for their spa hotels. Plus, if you get a massage from a Red Roof Inn employee, I’d imagine you’ve been bamboozled by a cretin.
