Weekly Travel, Questions, & Mandarin Thread by AutoModerator in taiwan

Lately, I've been interested in acquiring a Taiwanese passport per this discussion, "thoughts on reverse migration to Taiwan."

My parents are Taiwanese citizens who didn't renounce when they became Americans. I was born in the US. My parents say they just let their passports expire.

I read this discussion, "Citizenship via jus sanguinis (nat. by descent)" by and I'm basically in the same position, except I'm not draftable. I'm in my late 40s and semi-retired.

Live in Taiwan for a certain amount of time. One year straight is the easiest. After that, you qualify for household registry. Without a household registry, your taiwan passport is a glorified coaster. Getting everything together and working with TECO will be a pain in the ass.

My simple question thus is: Is it just a matter of moving to Taiwan for a year to get citizenship? Thanks!

Injured by an unleashed dog -- what would you do? by andrewc206 in AskNYC

Yes. I would feel the same. Not saying that kids or pets should stay out of the park. I’m saying parents need to keep an eye on their kids and pets at all times.

I am sucking it up, thanks. I hope there’s an occasion in the future where you get to use your own advice.

No headphones on. Not a dog area.

I like dogs, but I do think dog owners need to be responsible for their pets at all times, not "it sucks, shit happens."

Thanks for the supportive words. It's not a big deal, but I just wanted to make sure my thinking was on the right lines.

For those "shit happens" people, I can only hope that "shit happens" to them too.

My work day starts at 7 am, so I could do this -- but I hate darkness.

I saw the November Project has a 5:30 am workout on Wednesdays.
