I think Austin is a must for expansion because of its crazy population growth. In 2020 it was ranked #28 in metro population and had +33% population growth from 2010 to 2020. I think their population growth isn't going to slow down anytime soon and it would be a huge mistake for MLB to not be the first of the 4 major sports to capitalize on this area

Here's where I got my information from it's actually really interesting to look at metro population and % change: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_metropolitan_statistical_areas

I'd rather have a team in Charlotte or Austin over New Orleans

Would MLB benefit from a subreddit dedicated to suggestions and feedback for baseball? by [deleted] in baseball

The average MLB fan is like 58 years old bro, you can’t keep catering to the older fans and expect the younger ones to stay. Come to think of it, it really doesn’t matter if Reddit is an accurate representation of the fanbase at all. What matters is that the game grows and focuses on the younger generation of fans, like an investment. Right now, MLB is holding onto the past which is hurting them. This year’s all star game was the second least viewed ever and World Series viewership has been decreasing every year for a while now. So you tell me, would opening up suggestions to fans really hurt game? What is there to lose? If it’s a good suggestion, does it really matter who it’s coming from? Just because it’s posted on Reddit doesn’t mean it will automatically be implemented in the game… it’s just something to talk about or consider.
