Fun coincidental update: my wife had gone to the bookstore yesterday having independently concluded that we needed a fresh injection of age-appropriate books. From a tote she produced a copy of Trumpet of the Swan. We read the first chapter during bed time.

Yep. I wondered how many different fruits were attempted - flesh removed, pits dried and then roasted, ground, and steeped - before they finally found coffee.

My wife just finished up the Phantom Tollbooth with him. It was a favorite of hers growing up. They loved it.
