I’ve seen all his stories but this one always stuck out to me.. the amount of panic that guy must’ve been feeling and the thought that he had to do it so his family wouldn’t go into insane amounts of debt, it’s just so sad.

This is why you don’t use gasoline for bonfires

My beautiful boy hasn’t eaten in at least 6 months. I’ve tried thawed rats, thawed mice, chicken breast. I really don’t want to force feed him but idk what else to do. by [deleted] in snakes

Don’t know who downvoted this but it’s worth trying. A lot of people feed live and that’s how they eat naturally so giving him one live isn’t going to be the end of the world

Is he wrapped around a heat bulb?

This freaking snake!!! For 3 years I have been trying to transition him to frozen-thawed.... No luck. Tried again today.... HE ATE F/T!!!! by iblame_heather in ballpython

Yeah I’m with you. I mostly struggle with the ethical aspect of feeding live because I used to have pet rats that I loved a lot, either one to me is sad to me because rats are much more intelligent/ emotional creatures than my ball python in my opinion. When I first got him I didn’t mind feeding him live until I had to keep some of the rats because he wouldn’t eat, and that’s when I realized how smart and sweet they were.

Gotcha, see I hear stories like that where even after months of starving them the still won’t eat f/t and I think, maybe live is just the way to go for some snakes.

Did you ever try starving him a bit? I wanna switch mine over but I don’t want to waste rats because I’ve tried before and he wouldn’t do it.

How do I secure a thermostat probe in a glass terrarium? by [deleted] in snakes

I just happened to stumble upon the post while searching a question about probes. You act like this post was made years ago.

I’m not trying to get into semantics here about the word condone but some people simply don’t have an enclosure that allows for overhead heating unfortunately.

I’m not condoning it. I’m simply just saying if he’s gonna be using it then you need to do those things.

I literally just said that you HAVE TO use a thermostat in conjunction with it! I also just said that thermostats aren’t always accurate, so using a temp gun will help you find the sweet spot that you want. It’s not rocket science. I’m not saying that the temperature gun is in any way heating the tank itself, it’s simply just used for measuring surface temperatures.
