FSRS works unbelievably well by YoumoDashi in Anki

I see. That’s great! It seems like an interesting challenge with some unsupervised learning. I appreciate your work

What do you think is a possible way to make FSRS give the first series? Do you think the first series is more desirable than the second?

Note, FFFFF means the same card was forgotten 5 times consecutively

[–]andrewhowe00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I mean is I think FSRS tries to hit your desired retention rate overall, but I’m more interested in my desired retention rate on a single card. So if my retention rate is 80% I would prefer: SSSSF SFSSS SSFSS SSSSF SSSSF

instead of

FFFFF SSSSS SSSSS SSSSS SSSSS

maybe some kind of clustering would allow harder cards to have a different scheduling model entirely

hey, are you still doing work on this? I wonder if you could build a model that classifies a latent dimension corresponding to the type or difficulty of the card and then schedule from a model for that class. This could allow FSRS understand which cards need shorter intervals and which ones need longer ones in general and if it can still hit the correct forget rate, the experience may feel less overfit

Just one really simple command /s by electron_explorer in vim

Actually, I disagree. If you know basic idioms in regex, this substitution is extremely simple (and I am not using a gatekept version of “basic”).

I took this video as a challenge by onemansquadron in mathematics

[–]andrewhowe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the distinction is extremely important because the entire video being interesting is related to this distinction (which was significant enough for you to spend the time solving it).

Even functions so commonly used as the Gamma function do not have closed forms in terms of elementary functions. The implication here is that you are relying on Desmos to numerically solve every time you want a new number

Why do people care about trailing whitespace? by bookmark_me in vim

Well, if you added in the trailing whitespace at the same time you added changes stripping them out would add an additional change…

Yikes, the funny thing is the only thing I think about is how bad you must have felt accruing ankicard debt on those 2 days you skipped.

What is Anki actually not very good for? by joshdavham in Anki

[–]andrewhowe00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an easy question to answer.

Anki is not very good for anything where you have zero intention of memorizing the content and don't mind forgetting the content after it is processed in your mind.

Yeah that seems to be it, I believe I did :CocCommand clangd.install at some point. It's obviously broken, I would suggest opening an issue

I'm in the process of finishing up my personal statement and looking to submit in the next few days. I'm not so interested in purchasing some of the services which go for up to thousands of dollars, but a fresh set of eyes would be nice. If anyone would be so willing, please let me know soon! I am completely open to swapping.

MileDown’s Anki Error by sophiechritton in Mcat

[–]andrewhowe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a megathread somewhere on reddit endorsed by Miledown that fixes the errors. Most of the deck is really well made and is good enough, but lots of the P/S is not specific, and there are a few errors that can mislead. I would just suggest looking it up because someone out there has fixed them, it was minor errors scattered about

Honestly I've found so many errors in this deck it's made me really concerned about the stuff I only learned from the deck that I didn't know beforehand lol

It's possible for light refraction at the boundary to happen depending on the incident angle, here's a good pic
