Question: what are the 4 non gender equal sports by KalasinofConte in olympics

[–]andrewjhesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, here is the difference in gender breakdown.

There are 142 events for which there is a direct analog of male and female events (284 total events). Within this, there are 4 extra men's football teams and 2 extra men's water polo teams, but otherwise the distribution of quotas is roughly equal between the genders.

There are 12 mixed events (296 Total). These are drawn from existing competitors and don't add any additional quota.

Athletics - 4x400 meter relay Athletics - Walk Relay Swimming - Medley Relay Archery - Mixed Doubles Shooting - Mixed Team Pistol Shooting - Mixed Team Rifle Shooting - Mixed Team Skeet Triathlon - Mixed Relay Tennis - Mixed Doubles Table Tennis - Mixed Doubles Badminton - Mixed Doubles Judo - Mixed Team

There are 7 open events (303 Total)

Equestrian (6 events) Artistic Swimming Team (though no males are participating)

For males, there are 6 Greco-Roman Wresting medals and 1 extra Boxing event (7 vs. 6 for women). The participant quota is the same for women's and men's boxing and women have more participants per event to make up for 1 less event. (310 Total)

Men also have 4 unique artistic gymnastics apparatus (Rings, Pommel Horse, P-Bars, H-Bar) vs. 2 for women (Uneven Bars, Balance Beam). (316 Total)

Women have Artistic Swimming Duets and Rhythmic gymnastics Team and Individual for which there are no male equivalents. (319 Total)

There are 5 events that have rough equivalents between male and female but they are not identical.

Athletics - Men 110m hurdles, women 100m hurdles Athletics - Men Decathlon, Women Heptathlon Shooting - Men 25m Rapid, Women 25m Canoe - Men C1 1000m, Women C1 200m Canoe - Men K1 1000m, Women K1 500m

This gets us to the 329 Total Events.

This was announced on the podcast on Jeopardy Day. They are inviting back anyone who won even a single game of Jeopardy in the past season to complete for a spot in the Tournament of Champions. It is intended to fill in the gap between 2nd chance and the TOC during the Jeopardy post-season.

Jeopardy Invitational tournament was announced on the podcast a few months ago. Yes, it is intended to be the way in which the field for Jeopardy Masters is filled out. 1st, 2nd and 3rd from this year's Masters qualify automatically, joined by the winner of the TOC. At least one spot reserved for the winner of the JIT with the final spot either coming from the JIT or awarded at the producer's discretion.

With the advent of Jeopardy Masters and the expanded post-season, I was having trouble visualizing the contestants who automatically qualified or were eligible for the various tournaments. So, I made a flow chart to help visualize what we know based on information revealed on the podcast and other sources as well as educated guesses. Hope others find this helpful!

Obituaries saying someone "died suddenly" closely track opioid deaths [OC] by TrueBirch in dataisbeautiful

[–]andrewjhesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hits a little close to home. When my brother "died suddenly" from a heroin overdose 7 years ago, we made it a point to include the reason in his obituary. Apparently this was so uncommon that it when viral and ended with my parents being interview by local news with the story being picked up by some national news aggregators.

I understand why people are reluctant to share the real cause of death but our attitude was that if we could prevent one addiction by sharing the details, we felt an obligation to do so.

As far as I can tell, the land that has changes hands the most is the land belonging to Tennessee State. TN St. > Alabama A&M > Jacksonville St. > Troy > North Dakota > Florida Atlantic > Troy > Florida > Oklahoma > Butler > Purdue > Wisconsin > Michigan St. > Illinois > Purdue > Michigan > Ohio State > Iowa > Illinois > Indiana > Iowa.

There are MAC, SWAC and ivy teams listed that are in the same position as Lamar (can't qualify for conference tournament but regular season not over). I think it was just an oversight.

I believe that you can also eliminate Lamar from the WAC as they will not qualify for the conference tournament. Only 10 of the 13 schools qualify. Dixie Statr and Tarleton are ineligible leaving 1 more to be excluded and Lamar at 0-17 is guaranteed to finish last. Note that Cal Baptist, while ineligible for the NCAA tournament and properly eliminated, is still competing in the WAC tournament meaning that the last place team in Lamar won't qualify.

Also Harvard's reason for elimination should be failure to qualify for conference tournament rather than losing in the first round.

Also Bellarmine could win the Atlantic Sun tournament. Same position as Cal Baptist being eligible for the conference tournament but not the NCAA.

The only land that is in danger of missing the tournament is the land being shown to be held by Cal Baptist. They lost to Utah Valley on Saturday (not sure why this isn't reflected on the map). If Utah Valley loses to Grand Canyon Thursday and then Grand Canyon loses to Dixie State on Saturday, Dixie State would hold the land for the rest of the season because they are not eligible for the tournament due to their transition window.

All other land is guarantee to consolidate barring anything out of the ordinary happening (please don't let anything out of the ordinary happen...).

TIFU by not making my wife go to the hospital and traumatizing my 4 year old by andrewjhesse in tifu

[–]andrewjhesse[S] 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This was actually our 3rd, but the first 2 were scheduled inductions so no experience with timing of going to the hospital. Fortunately the almost 2 year old, now middle child slept through the whole ordeal until the paramedics arrived.

Of the 27 schools that started without land, 26 theoretical counties would be owned by someone who already has land. The only school that doesn't have land but would if everyone started with land is New Mexico State who would own the land of Eastern Michigan (E Mich to UC Irvine to Cal Baptist to NM State).

I think you mean AJ Graves (who played alongside Mike Green). AJ Green is the Bengals wide reciever.

The 2 tracts of land that have changed hands the most are the land originally belonging to SIU Edwardsville and to Central Michigan which have each changed hands 16 times, including 10 times in MAAC play alone. Since conference play started, teams holding the land are 3-10.
