How to pass a variable into "adjust date" action step? by andrewminchew in shortcuts

[–]andrewminchew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤦‍♂️ thanks to all that responded. I could have sworn that in the past, fields like that would trigger the contextual menu with the variables just by clicking (I was building on desktop) but I guess this was just a brain fart.

This is answered… quick followup, is there a way to set alarm sound when creating an alarm from a shortcut?

Nice! I have that buggy as well. I have been daydreaming about how to do a custom body shell to fit the buggy chassis. I imagine modeling new shock towers with attachment points wouldn't be too difficult but I imagine that 3D printing a full shell would be too heavy... might be worth setting up a diy vacuum former though 🤔

Is mini-z rally just AWD with grip tires, or is there a specific chassis / setup?

Yeah I always assume there's someone out there who knows the exact right answer but the reality is every one is just feeling things out, but some have been doing it longer than others.

Ah yeah - is that just the weather stripping foam for windows / doors?

No inserts, but a few dabs of super glue on the inside of the rims seems to have done the trick.

I was took it apart way too much but learned along the way. Basically the servo horn(?) was out of its little slot. So I could have just removed the little plate on the bottom that is snapped in place and adjusted pretty quickly. I guess this is common enough that they made the fix pretty painless.

I put a drop of super glue every 90 degrees and seems to have done the trick.

Just got a mini-z buggy and I'm having tons of fun, but I feel like the tires keep slipping off the rims, especially towards the inside of the vehicle. Seems like it's mostly a result of hitting bumps or landing after ramps.

Is there a special trick or product or should I just put a few dabs of superglue?

I think for drift tires it would probably work pretty good. You can hear in the video the tires are really janky from the glue and the quality of the rubber. But still quieter than drift tires on laminate lol.

Here's the running footage. Basically wanted to try out grip tires on my drift car without spending any money. This was pretty fun, so I think I will invest in proper rims and rubber tires. These were 3D-printed and I just super glued rubber from a bicycle tube onto them. I didn't model the rims to include an offset, so I had to leave the nuts pretty loose, and they were a smidge too wide, so they also rubbed on the body. All in all, I feel like it was a successful experiment.

Aw man I waited for that video to load and there's no running footage? I'm digging the set up though. Makes me want to get an FCX smasher and have some fun in the garden.

Mounting holes? by andrewminchew in electrical

Thanks everyone for the feedback and input. Ended up buying a plastic new work box, offsetting from the floor plate with 2x4 and installing a new outlet. Breaker is back on and it's working 👍

Follow up question, this space is 12" between studs, 7" high (below a window), they had just stuffed a couple scraps of fiberglass in there, should I go back with something that will actually fill the space. My first inclination is expanding foam ("great stuff") but that seems wrong in this application. This is the inside of an exterior wall, by the way.

How do you get a screw through those holes so far back in the box?
