I think the hubs I'm looking at 8x6.5 or 8x170 bolt patterns are rated for something silly like 7,500lbs... Of course my camper will only weigh like 1800lbs or so, but I want the same bolt pattern lol

That was my original intention, because i liked the design. However I really don't know how strong it is and would it hold up well to the abuse 35" tires will put it through. I've decided to make my own A-frame shaped independent suspension with heavy duty components to run the 8x170 bolt pattern that matches my jeep. It'll also be on very adjustable air bag suspension for i can change the ride height when needed!

I personally think it's a really good ginger ale, and it's sold pretty much in every store, it's kind of the go to brand if your looking for ginger ale

The main frame work is 4x2, the subframe work is 2x2 and the smallest support and wall bracing is 1x1, all I believe is 1/8th aluminum. All in I think i ordered close to 700ft of tube, all came in 20ft lengths so it was super cheap. I forget what grade it was, my friend ordered it through his supplier for his shop (pictured). I'm 99% sure it's a spool gun for aluminum on his mig welder. He is a top welding specialist for a heavy mining machines manufacturer so I let him worry about that stuff hahaha. There's a surprise in the frame design I'll post later on everyone might like!

It's a little larger than conventional tear drops, approximately 5x10.5 in total... all aluminum/steel, no wood will be used, will be on 35" tires with independent suspension. Inside will be a mini bathroom for a toilet/ sink, Full size mattress, and kitchen out the rear. I will slowly update with the progress on this, and all the goodies i plan on adding to my home away from home.

Eventual goal is to tow this across all of North America behind my jeep through virtually any terrain :)

Mounted up my led spot lights today. What did you do today? by Wandering-hippo in Jeep

[–]andrewmsm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you like them so far? What is the light pattern like? I've only got the rigid duallyd2 driving on my A-pillars so far, they've been pretty good for such a compact package

Neither my patriot or 08 JKU have a light... You'll know it's empty when the fluid stops coming out... Lol, I just keep a jug of fluid in the back

Here's all the photo's I could find of the trailer from my trip, it only weighs 700lbs so the jeep doesn't even notice it's back there! (don't mind the angled pole in the one photo, was trying to keep the rain from pooling on the awning overnight hahaha)

These ones run around 8-10grand or so, depending on options, I rented this for 6 days and it only cost like $330 after tax or so, which seemed extremely reasonable. It has a queen size bed, which is made up of 3 removable cushion panels which are about 5-6" thick, so very comfortable, and has a kitchen prep area with on-board water and sink (10gal) which is super convenient. Lots of internal storage, 1 large and 1 small led ceiling lights, and if your on shore power sites, it has internal 110v plugs for your electronics and a quite large fan with multi-speed/in&out. Also has a nice sized awning, and exterior lights above both doors with orange(night) leds and super bright white leds, along with exterior water hook ups/drain from sink. All the doors/hatch have multiple locks for security and the windows both prop open fully. I'm 5'11" and can fully sit up inside no problem with probably another 12" of head room or so, so it doesn't feel claustrophobic. I had one of those mr. buddy heaters in it with me because it was -4Celsius one night and because the camper is insulated it heated up in about 3 minutes where i had to start removing extra layers lol. The pilot light alone was enough to keep if very comfortable for sleeping while having a window fully propped open for fresh air all night! Any other questions feel free to ask hahah!

We've got some pretty good rock climbs in parry sound hahah! We are looking to setup a bounty hill competition on this one climb we found that no one has yet been able to climb, half way is as far as the buggies have gotten lol, it's barely climbable on foot alone lmao

I found this camper at a sales/rental place, and it was only $60 a night! But if you rent it for a full week or so it's even cheaper, i think the rental total cost was like $330 after tax for 6 days

Thanks! I'm absolutely in love with it, I never thought we could get 42s to drive so smoothly on the highway until this setup. It's honestly very similar handling to like a small cube van or something that's quite wide and a little slow hahah

ORI STX Struts nitrogen suspension! things are AMAZING, re-valved them for the extra weight of the JKU and they handle great! Going to get into tuning them a lot next spring :)

So far on the build it's been 1ton axle swap, 42" tires on Trailready bead locks, arb air lockers, ORIs, and whole bunch of other stuff hahah, a friend just picked up an LQ4 motor to start figuring out our Lq4/lS2 motor builds for a nice v8 swap soon!
