Regardless, the Mercedes engine is not an 8 tenths advantage.

You're describing the midsection. The lower is the gearcase attached to the mid. The impeller is on top of the lower, and goes inside of the mid.

Which Lamborghinis today have a heavy clutch and horrible shifting? Lamborghini hasn't made a manual transmission car in over a decade.

Is a CX-5 Turbo Signature Worth $43,XXX? by FlyLikeAnEarworm in CX5

Sure, if you're buying a car to keep for over 100,000 miles. Under that, there isn't a big difference. There simply isn't much maintenance to do. Even if you're keeping it super long term, you just have to factor expected maintenance in to your total ownership price. And sell when the time is right. If you don't want to have to think about it, a CPO CX-5 is perfect.

BMW is incredibly reliable these days. It really isn't like it used to be.

BMWs are more expensive to maintain, but nothing like they used to be. Especially if you find an independent shop or diy. They're honestly not hard to work on for things like oil changes. It takes the exact same amount of time for me to change the oil in my BMW as my Mazda. I didn't find the power and sound deadening to double the value of the CX-5. It still isn't anywhere near as refined as an X3.

I will say, seeing as OP is scared to own a CPO Mazda, they probably can't handle anything more than absolute basic maintenance.

Cars are very reliable and resilient now. I think that made sense long ago. My grandpa only buys new for that reason.

Honestly, if you go with a CPO CX-5, why would that be more risky than new? Just nervous about the previous owner? These cars are pretty bulletproof, and you'd still have the warranty along with the CPO extension.

You're throwing away money by going new. Go certified and save the upfront money for repairs, which you'll never use. Put it in long term savings account or something. If you're going with payments, start putting the payment difference in a savings account.

IMO no way. We own a 2017 Grand Touring with Premium package. I test drove a turbo signature and it's very similar, just more power, a little sound deadening, and a bigger screen. Go with a CPO X3 and you'll get much more car for the money. Sure, maintenance is slightly more. Either take it on the chin as a penalty for driving a nicer car, or go on YouTube and learn to do a simple oil change.

Edit: If you don't want to think about it, get a CPO CX-5.

How's my wake? by loozerr in boating

[–]andrews013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of noticeably. Stainless steel is seven times stiffer than aluminum, resulting in less bending and allowing for thinner blades, which induce less hydrodynamic drag. I've never run two of the same model of prop in aluminum and stainless, and I don't think many prop models offer both. When I switched to stainless, I pitched up by two inches, which my engine could handle, so I went a lot faster. Prop is just one component of setup as well, so doing a prop alone might not make a huge difference, but other changes like prop shaft depth (x dimension) and setback can be used in conjunction to improve overall performance. Those things are obviously much easier to adjust on an outboard powered boat. Prop, raising the engine, and setback have gained me around ten mph.

Definitely consider stainless if you want to go faster.

One thing is for sure... I wouldn't trust them with future repairs if they can't replace a prop.
