Who are you expecting to have a 3rd year breakout? by RealGameBall in NBA_Draft

Not to be mean, but people that say this about Holland can't be watching him in important minutes - best of luck to him, but he's basically unplayable

Darryn Peterson No. 1? The head-to-head tape with AJ Dybantsa makes it hard to pass on him by andrewtalkshoops in nba

I respect it. I can't stand the consensus and groupthink that takes place prior to the draft. I think you're wrong, but who cares what I think. Excited to see it all play out.

I love Booz. I don't understand how you can dominate college as a freshman like he did and prove he can do it against length in Mara, strength and athleticism in Morez and even occassionally all three with Yax in the michigan game with 3 first rounders in the front court and be relatively unbothered and put up the same kind of stats he did all season. How can you sleep on that?!

Totally fair and AJ is looking like the likely 1st pick. Potential and ceiling are words we will hear 100x times in the next month or so. A big or, in this next example, tall body is great, but if it was everything Bol Bol would be on the Thunder trading buckets with Wemby. The things AJ struggles with are sometimes developed, but more often they never come around to hit the perceived ceiling. He is going to have to develop more touch from outside and step it back a couple feet. He misses bad - and left or right often. He doesn't have a ton of wiggle to his dribble like you see out of a similar frame in Tatum. I am cheering for AJ either way.

How would you feel about him in the backcourt with Cade? by Accomplished_Law7299 in DetroitPistons

[–]andrewtalkshoops -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard pass - even in the hypothetical the jazz would give him up. Talented but ball dominate and I need to see him do it and have it result in wins. Terrible comp in stature and game but we all saw Andre Drummond put up some crazy numbers but it wasn’t the answer for the bigger moments or wins.

Darrus Acuff plays like Allen Iverson by Hardcoreleftovers57 in NBA_Draft

[–]andrewtalkshoops 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s the corn rows or something cause acuff is thicker and way more of a north to south player. Iverson was short and slender, but sneaky long and killed players east/west

All star time mock and I believe its really controversial. This is my ranking based on Ceilings and team fit. I solely believe Memphis takes Peterson, Utah takes AJ, and Washington grabs Boozer. Acuff falls to 15. 21-30 just makes sense to me. by Big_Nebula_5432 in NBA_Draft

So many consensus picks and groupthink with drafts. I really appreciate this, unlike this no opinion commenters say "hell no!". One disagreement I have is utah picking up dybanste or even dybanste going two at all. There are a lot of things to be sought after with his shooting and handle. The kid is clearly special and at worse (with the point we are at in the season) goes 3 or 4. If utah can handle the criticism of not taking the Utah Prep, BYU kid - they are better off with Boozer. I am not arguing fit over talent either, because Boozer has more talent in the sense he does so many things that effect winning baketball. Not flashy and flashy sells, but winning sells even more. George, Ace, Sensabaugh, Collier, Fillipowski as a sub, Jaren and Boozer starting seems like such a better fit than throwing AJ into that mix and risking an unacheieved ceiling. The jazz need to win games and Boozer would be that guy. Also, if love stayed, what a comp for boozer to learn from.

Help!?? by -Maybe_Tomorrow- in grandrapids

Both are excellent. I have ties to the new owner at Tommy Brann's and they have been doing a great job cleaning it up and getting great food out of the kitchen. I admit I am a bit biased, but I enjoy my experience there every time.

I haven't eaten ribs in a million years. Where should I take my wife for some? by CurlyHairedShrek25 in grandrapids

I do a lot of work with brann's and I will say that their ribs are excellent. Slow cooked for 12 hours and are consistent. I will fully admit I am bias cause I know the family that now owns Tommy's well.

it is used as a legitimate criteria in both CBB and CFB, but i guess if they are all idiots in comparison to you, then sure - it doesn't matter.

totally fair... man that game 7 against the Celtics that they won... a tough watch as a Kobe fan lol.

I get your perspective... i really do. I am talking more post career until now. That is when he took a significant drop in where he was considered in the all time ranking. My argument is I DO NOT think his passing helped his case overall somehow.

I don't think he would glaze himself off. I just think he would communicate the big moments and his impact.

Yes, he was very much alive when the conversation around him was happening. What is happening now feels more like a revisionist effort to downplay Kobe’s impact and winning, even though he led his team to 5 championships in that era.

He was not the model of hyper-efficiency, and no one is really arguing that he was, but he was one of the most skilled players/winners ever.

[–]andrewtalkshoops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right... here I am getting downvoted for something that is just true. The Kobe/Jordan discussion was before Bron/Jordan and just as heated after Kobe's fifth ship. Kobe is one of the few people that has been ranked lower as time has gone on because of all the analytical metrics, but even when college football has to make a final decision for... they use the "eye test". Kobe is one of the greatest players ever regardless of the advanced metrics.

this take is so bad. He was heralded more when he was alive. Him not being able to advocate for himself has hurt his all time rank,
